A dirty bomb is bad, but it's not as bad as people make it out to be. A dirty bomb isn't going to vaporize the eastern half of mass. I'm sure they'd have a pray err remembrance moment. and the speech writers would be busy tonight making a statement. All a dirty bomb will do is spread some radioactive dust around. In concrete-and-glass downtown Boston, all that stuff gets washed down into the sewers and out to sea after the first heavy rain. The remainder can be taken care of with power washers

WBZ reported Romney would cut short his trip to Washington and would return to Massachusetts later on Wednesday evening as a result of the report. A spokeswoman for the governor did not rule out that Romney would return to Boston on Wednesday.Anyone heard what Romney's going to do?

If you have ever had x-rays of your kidneys done, they injected you with something radioactive. What I am saying is that more likely than not, the radioactive material that these people would have probably wouldn't be plutonium. Of course why bother to go through all the trouble if you just used firecrackers.

Exactly, a dirty bomb won't hurt you. It is to terrorize you. According to Homeland sec. disrobe, shower. That is how you get it off.
A dirty bomb is for terrorizing.....and it looks like it doing it's said job.

FNC just mentioned the story on their 6:30 news update, just that police were looking for four suspects, I didn't quite get the rest.

As I understand it, Romney is on his way back to Boston. He spoke from the airport in DC. Howie said something about Romney just showing that he's not afraid to come back, but I didn't catch whether he was quoting or speculating.

Economic damage would be "greater" than the loss of life. Depending on the conventional explosive and where it is placed.
Basically, the cost of scrubbing the affected area would be astronomical, but even more lasting would be the economic impact. People wouldn't trust that the area was safe. Real estate, business would literally go into a depression in the effected area.

Cool, he's carrying a FN P-90. Wicked little weapon. 5.7 X 28mm cartridge, 50 round mag. Cyclic rate of 900 RPM. Can pierce 48 layers of Kevlar. Someone crossing this guy will have a very bad...and short day.

>> I just get on about the fear of an atomic explosion that some have. <<
I understand. There are far too many folks who don't know the difference. A dirty bomb will not cause a nuclear detonation (no mushroom cloud), just spread radioactive material. Probably won't result in a high body count but will cost billions to clean up.
Biggest threat from a dirty bomb is the panic that it would cause.
Didn't mean to be snippy. My apologies.

Ah, I see. I was hearing about a worst-case level of dirty nuke. Normally, it would be junk from medical waste, etc. Ah... ok. =]
