ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The chief addressed concerns Tuesday during a forum with community leaders from the Hispanic community.
Community leader Maggie Mejia told the police chief about a chilling call she got from a self-proclaimed gang member.
"He said, 'They are not going to stop us. We are not terrorists. We, the gang members, have called a truce. We are not going to be fighting each other. Our targets are the cops," Mejia said.

A law enforcement type at my old indoor range in San Diego offered some insight on this issue in early 2000. The hispanic gangs in Southern California were stockpiling AR-15 and M-16 rifles and ammo. It is/was a long term goal to reach a threshold where they had sufficient arms to turn on law enforcement en masse. Some of the M-16 rifles were being supplied by "homies" who had enlisted for the purpose of gaining access to those resources.
The brazen claim that the cops aren't going to stop them may be true. The old saw, "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns" may come true. California banned purchase of AR-15 rifles by law abiding citizens in January 2000. The outlaw gangs have been stockpiling them. It will be homeboys vs law enforcement. California may rue the day it outlawed the AR-15 for law abiding citizens.
