You're welcome Cindy. Hope you got all the weeds for the day. Snow has melted enough here that I can rake the flower bed. Weird. We usually have at least 2' of snow on the ground this time of year. February is normally our heaviest snow month.
I read quite a few of his articles about a year ago. Fascinating info. The research he did with a somewhat remote tribe (don't remember where) that had been farming on soil that had recent volcanic dust deposits and the subsequent high rate of CJ disease was really interesting. The tribe's only source of food was their farming and local vegetation. No grocery stores :-). His theory about the high levels of various elements in the soil and the high rate of illness in the people made a lot of sense.
Purdey cites the much higher incidence of BSE in the British Isles as they instituted high dose systemic organophospate treatment of cattle to control the warble fly in November 1986. The UK was contaminated with large amounts of strontium 90 in April 1986 as a consequence of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor accident and large amounts of rainfall. There was a synergistic effect of organophospates and strontium 90 available at the same time.
The paper cites copper and zinc deficiencies as part of the cause.
When I first read about the warble fly eradication program in Britain I was shocked. They went into complete overkill mode, IMO. I understand the climate in Britain is different than where I live, but, we have friends that have a 50,000 acre cattle ranch and run about 1000 head. They don't use, or need to use, any eradication program. They run clean cattle and won't do it any other way. We've been all over their ranch and have seen how they run their operation because they are who we buy our young steers from. If you run a good and clean operation the chemicals just aren't needed.
That's interesting.
I know someone who specializes in copper.
I'll pass that on.
I'm gonna have to get some of your botany lessons DC.
I added a lot of berry vines this year and grasses to
crowd out the weeds.
Did you notice that after the two planes were caught in Texas, one with the 4 Chinese on board, that the Boston alert was pulled.
For those who might have missed the excellent thread that a new Freeper, named Elephant in Texas started and stuck with for days to fill with the help of other freepers with the
best research that was available.
see posts #286 and 293 for info on the 2 planes.

I will have to be counted as feeling the threat was real and once the Chinese were in hand, the threat was over.
"Snow has melted enough here that I can rake the flower bed. Weird. We usually have at least 2' of snow on the ground this time of year."
Yep; however it seems the seasons have moved a bit (timewise); so I'm not too worried yet.
Freewebs, huh?
Thanks Oorang.
Here's another one listed as Ajnad al-Islam; Salafi-Jihadi web site of a Tawhidi group in Iraq. Looks odd to me.
Note:"books.html" includes books on subjects like Iraq, after 9-11, etc.:

We'd be seeing a greater synergistic effect in large swath from Poland/Germany up thru Finland and Sweden then and these areas aren't historically connected with scrapie to the degree Great Britain is and then there is the prion itself.
"The heavy metal grows into fibrils characteristic of
spongiform encephalopathies."
Interesting but these fibrils wouldn't survive autoclaving etc though the potential for misdiagnosis probably exists if this fibril development is so. How would you account for all the medical research and scientific periodicals that deal with prionic diseases and BSE... all the vet path studies can't be rigged and you can't gag all the toxicologists on the planet.
Oorang, can you ask the mod to delete your post please?
That's in reference to post #4912.
Thanks.
TV news today warned that early budding could signify problems for the trees and plants should repeated cold spells occur which would then damage them.
Just requested that it be deleted. Why? Now you have my curiosity meter going off :-)
I was out checking our fruit trees today. No signs of buds yet, thank goodness.
