The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

WASHINGTON - A terrorist attack on a tanker loaded with liquefied natural gas could cause massive damage a third of a mile away and could send a vapor cloud billowing more than 1.5 miles, government scientists say.

With the the nation clamoring for more natural gas, policy-makers are trying to figure out how to safely import large quantities of liquefied natural gas or LNG.

Lots of versions of this story are still going around.

One is probably closer to the west coast sources than the others. Bottom line is, they have the tipster in custody and it appears to have been a bogus threat.

Having worked on human cargo smuggling cases, I have not yet worked one where the smuggler did not receive his money up front for safe passage.

On other cases where the money is not received up front, the arrangement was already made to have the smuggled subjects work off the debt through prostitution or "slave" labour.

I've never seen a smuggler lose his cargo, which doesn't mean it hasn't happened in the past.

This story of a smuggler ratting out does not sound feasible to me. If there's anyone from ICE here, maybe they can comment further.

Radiological Emergency in Downtown West Palm Beach

West Palm Beach Fire/Rescue is investigating a leak of radiological material at 321 South Dixie Highway. The fire department recieved an initital report of smoke in the area with a high radiantion level at the Corodino Environmental Management Group. The fire department has evacuated a four block area between Quadrille, Olive, Dixie, and Fern. The evacuation has proceeded calmly and the fire department has not issued any type of advisory that would affected breathing or other health concerns. There have been no reported injuries.
