After taking one look at this thread, I'm not surprised. ;O)

I just purchased Spy Sweeper recently after a nasty spyware problem that even spybot and adaware couldn't fix. I have Spy Sweeper configured now to guard my startup programs, homepage, etc, But I don't know enough about Firefox to switch. I downloaded it and used it a couple times, works ok, but my Spysweeper is already configured for IE and I don't know if I have to buy a new license for Firefox.
Which revision are you up to? ;)
A real big thank-you for all your information.
I have Free Republic, Drudge, Accuweather (with my local forecast), Google News and a couple other sites automatically load as my home page.
The built in popup blocker and adblocker extension is worth the price of admission alone.
(I don't know anything about Spy Sweeper).
I run Firefox on my Mac, no need to worry about spyware. :-)
Any more totally cool Firefox Extensions? I'd like to install a couple more before my wife unit pesters me about dinner.
I use Stock Ticker, Spoof Ticker, Smooth Wheel and Copy Plain Text in addition to Popup Blocker and Adblock. As a SuSE 9.1 user (Santa is giving us 9.2), spyware and other malware is not an issue.
Your Spy Sweeper license should be for you computer, regardless on the number of browsers you run. You can run both IE and Firefox.
You should also be able to add Firefox to Spy Sweeper's venue. [I don't use Spy Sweeper, so I can't tell you how. But check your options or preferences. Also check the Spy Sweeper help file.]

I might have misread your question.

Down at the very bottom it says it supports IE. If it's a program worth it's salt, it will find the critters that got onto the hard drive anyway.
I recommend Spyware Blaster:

It works with IE and Mozilla, and it's free, though donations are appreciated. Remember to check for updates weekly.
Firefox comes out of the box with certain defaults that IE lacks, such as the ability to block certain downloads, "drive-bys", for instance. It's not perfect, since nothing is, but there are those who have noted an almost instant reduction in certain problems. Give it another try.
Aye!
I would like to install Firefox and went to site to download but it wanted me to choose between 4 options to download. Am much too illiterate to know which one to pick.
Have Dell Dimension 2400 with Cox Broadband, Windows XP and the Cox guy has me using the installed Internet Explorer.
Could any of you folks tell me which to download?
Thanks
I've been using another tabbed browser for several years. Tabbing is great for websites such as FR.
I have Firefox and am slowing getting used to it.
My current one (Fastbrowser) has a built in computer voice 'speaker' that will read articles to me. That is great for long articles.
Firefox has a similar 'speaking/reading' capability through the extension called Foxyvoice (google it).
Firefox has great extensions (add-ons).
[I am liking it more and more.]
The situation with Internet Explorer reminds me of where the Democratic party is today.
Well, can't imagine where I was that was so confusing.
Thanks - now to get it installed. I downloaded it and they wanted me to close all running programs but when I tried to it threw me off net.
Will try again, ignoring running programs and just pushing "next"
