"a notice was not sent home with students..."

Supports my post above.

There was no permission obtained. It was an "opt out" with as little information given as possible, How many busy parents go to the schools' wesbite to see what's going on? At the very least forms should have been sent home with kids.

'I'd like to know exactly how many kids were in attendance, though.'

One would have been one too many.

Not the same thing

Ok, so it's the content. Fine. But do you really think that the parents know what the content really is? They are probably being told that is't just a lecture on teaching people not to be mean to homosexuals.

If my kids were in that school I'd have them OUT so fast their heads would spin! Schools that celebrate and WORSHIP deviant sex such as this need to be shut down - YESTERDAY.

WHO THE HELL DO THESE ADMINISTRATORS THINK THEY ARE?

That is my question. If my children are enrolled in a public school I have every right to be there. I also have every right to know the ins and outs of programs that affect my children and their education. Here, I go into the schools that my children attend and am warmly welcomed. My kids' school administrations know that I am a very involved parent. They know that, at the first sign of anything "wrong", I am one of the first of many parents to become involved in a solution. I question policies, porcedures and so forth and, I am not afraid to voice questions or concerns. They are also aware of the fact that I will go over their heads to get satisfactory answers as well. I am blessed that my kids do not have this PC indoctrination crap rained down on them at every turn. For the most part, our campuses are very conservative. Something may slip in every once in a while but, it is quickly dealt with and minimized.

Judging by your tag line, you're trying to talk grade school mathematics while people concerned about this are talking college physics. When and if you ever believe there is a Greater Power, you'll realize that this is a battle for souls, and in this instance, our children's.

What about homosexual enticement?

And again, the program would just be an "informational" day . . .

First it is probably opt-out rather than opt-in. So the parents probalby didn't give explicit permission. Second, how would the parents know what they are giving permission too if it is secret? Do you really think that the principal accurately describes what is going on to the parents?

I don't know the answer to these questions, and the article doesn't help.

This woman seemed to know about this event, so it's safe to assume that other parents had access to the same information.

I believe that this mother had every right to videotape (for preview) this subject matter - with or without the administration's permission.

I'm actually surprised that students are not forced to attend and that they allow parents to attend. Dollars to donuts says that next year, no parents allowed.

Well, there is a limit. You can't just have 25 parents walking in and out of a classroom all day long as they please.

"So would you object to parents video-taping the school play or holiday chorus?"

Not the same thing.

True. This is a risk to the kids, a play or chorus is not.

I'd agree with that, for sure. Such programs should always be with the parents' permission. As in this case, parents should also be able to attend any such programs. That would keep them from going in the wrong direction. Apparently that was the case here, since the woman and at least one other opponent were in the audience.

I'm fully in favor of informed consent on the part of parents with regard to the instruction given in the schools, especially if it's outside the academic curriculum.

Again, without knowing the actual content of this program, I can't really judge it very well. I'm in favor of programs that teach kids not to hate homosexuals. That's a good thing. I'm opposed to school programs that promote any sexual activity, heterosexual or homosexual.

Parental presence and parental approval for attendance to any program like this seems very appropriate.

Teaching tolerance? Crap. Why do you consistently defend and support liberal social values here? You consistently support the "gay" agenda.

You either never read any of the information presented about the "gay" agenda on FR out of stubbornness, or you like it.

I am really disgusted with your ongoing support of the homosexual promoters' attempts to indoctrinate and recruit kids into the "gay" life.

Not the same thing.

I would say that it is, IF this statement is to be taken at face value: "Newton schools Superintendent Jeff Young said it is a violation of school policy to tape or photograph students without parental permission. Note that there is no modifier about the circumstances of the taping. If the parent can prove that other school assemblies (or hell, even ball games) have been taped by parents without the explicit permission of the parents of each child caught on film, then this is selective enforcement of a dubious rule at best.

I also think the whole "Her tax dollars are sent there, so she has a right to be there!" argument is silly. I'm sure a hefty portion of my taxes goes to the Pentagon, but I don't believe I could walk in with a video camera and start taping at random. I'd be lucky to make it out alive.

I don't know what the actual content was, either. Parents were, however, allowed to attend.
