Oh my God ... how .. how could this be?
I want to be clear here. You REALLY believe that?
Properly qualified to judge perhaps, but not necessarily well informed enough to judge correctly.
Expressing opinions, absolutely.........but they are just that. Opinions.
And those of us who have enough information about the President himself to trust his judgement (not excuse 'executive incompetance'), have the right to express the opinion that he is trustworthy without ridicule from others. (Not talking about you here).
Of course not, that's why we don't let one voter pick the President.
It is reasonable-actually more than reasonable-for anyone who regularly interacts with TSA employees to form an opinion about their boss.
As one who has plenty of such interactions, it is very hard to imagine facts or circumstances that would lead to Secretary Mineta being retained in office for ONE MORE MINUTE, much less be reappointed.
I'm sorry, but I'm not going to "reconsider" the thought that people sitting at computers know more than George W. Bush does about who the best people to serve him are. No way.
Not even me.
Whatever President Bush does in this matter will be motivated by politics. Otherwise, why cozy up to Vincente Fox and why retain an obviously poor choice as Transportation Secretary?
Mineta is more than simply a "pimple on a private's a$$, he is an incompetent liberal masquerading as a conservative.
He's a PC simpleton.
I really am trying to figure this out, Jim.
How do you folks figure you know more than he does?
I want to be clear here. You REALLY believe that?
Dear Jesse,
This is NOT ranting.
You are making extreme statements in every post, and I'm trying to figure out if you really believe the President is deliberately putting our lives in danger to be PC.
I want to know if, when the air clears, you really believe the President is either that cold and calculating, or weak and incompetant.
I just don't believe any thinking person..... (that excludes liberals, of course, because they don't think....they just feel).....believes that about President Bush.
I'm assuming you're not a liberal, so I'm trying to find out if you really do believe the President is either a doofus or an evil man.
But your quote was, "Are you privvy to more information than he is?"
It's very unFReeperish, and quite unlike you (if I may say so) to equate "having information" with "choosing wisely".
The Kobe Bryant prosecutor had more information than you did, Howlin, but that did not make him right and you wrong.
I'm not arguing Mineta on the merits (with you), I'm arguing what facts you should use to make a decision.
"George Bush has made very good decisions and I therefore trust his judgement in this matter" is a good argument.
"He knows more than you" isn't.
I don't know more than he does.
What he knows is irrelevant to the issue at hand. We are discussing decisions he makes, not the information base that informs those decisions.
I will admit that I don't care for Monetta either because of his policy that only two Arabs per plane can be profiled.
However, it's such a ridiculous policy that I have often wondered if it isn't a bit of misdirection. Put out there the fallacy that only two Arabs per plane can be profiled but the truth is that we're really hoping 3 or more Arabs show up and we can profile them all.
"He knows more than you" isn't.
I'll go with this from your previous post. It's good.
George W. Bush has made very good decisions and I therefore trust his judgement in this matter.
Until proven wrong, while possessing doubts about Mineta, I will trust the decision making ability of the President.
I do believe he has made mistakes (e.g. signing CFR), but I do not believe he would make a mistake of this proportion (according to the hysterical reaction on this thread), and deliberately endager our lives and risk our security by leaving a totally incompetant man in this position.
It's not only that the President knows more than we do; it's that he can be trusted.
In leadership a person has to work with the resources he has, not the ones he wishes he had. And there are times when the best decision is far less than the one that appears ideal. The President is a realist -- as leader, and as a visionary.
I have come, over the past 4 years, to understand that when I don't know what the President is doing or why, I can trust his character and his judgment. He is my elected leader, that is why I elected him, and he has not let me down; and I know he is not perfect.
If you feel as passionately about Mineta as you do, then use whatever influence you have (as you are here) and with your representatives to influence our government for the better. It's your privilege.
Just my two cents.
That was worth at LEAST three............ :o)
While you're changing your Mineta ping list, stick me on it please...
As near as I can tell, the entirety of your comments on the matter are "Congress stepped in and allowed it". Hardly "tackling the issue head on" IMO. Congress forcing Mineta to act against his (foolish) position hardly absolves Mineta of blame.
Disagree with the man, but don't call him an idiot, you joined that bandwagon, so suck it in and take that medicine.
Interesting comment, considering back in #194 I agreed with ohioWfan that idiotic stances may not make an idiotic man, and that his idiocy or lack thereof is irrelevant anyway. You'd do well to avoid blatant mischaracterizations of others' statements, lest you be thought a less-than-forthright debater.
Nonetheless, my point stands.
If in fact Rush did suggest that Independents are just voters afraid to take a stand, he just dropped quite a few notches in my book.Thinking for myself instead of letting some party hack do it for me is part of being a voter. Not a single politician can take my vote for granted, they have to work to get it, not just show up.
I see your Partisan position as being in line with the Democrats, you and they both vote party, not the person. Thus the KoolAid label, personally I think it fits quite well with some people on here.
LOL. What's your point? If it's that Congress had to step in and correct Mineta's foolish position on arming pilots, than I suppose it does stand.
So is it your stance that we should keep Mineta in the job because everytime he takes a dumb position Congress can "fix" his mistake?
