Dutch Muslims want to block critical film December 3, 2004
The Hague - A small group of Muslims in the Netherlands are preparing a lawsuit to block a sequel to Submission, the movie scripted by a right-wing lawmaker and directed by a slain Dutch filmmaker.
Member of parliament Ayaan Hirsi Ali has been in hiding since filmmaker Theo Van Gogh was murdered on November 2 by an Islamic radical. A letter pinned to his chest with a knife threatened Hirsi Ali and vowed jihad, or holy war, against the "infidel enemies of Islam".
Hirsi Ali, a member of the Liberal party known by its Dutch acronym VVD, announced plans for a follow-up film on Monday. She has vowed to continue fighting for the emancipation of Muslim women.
Submission criticised how women are treated under Islam, and was considered insulting by many Dutch Muslims. It showed virtually naked Muslim women in headscarves with verses from the Qur'an written on their bodies. They told stories of abuse and rape by relatives.
Attorney Robert Moszkowicz said his clients had filed a suit "against Hirsi Ali in response to her plans to make a second film, called Submission 2.
"The suit will also seek to prevent Hirsi Ali from making offensive remarks or blasphemous statements against Islam", it said. It accused Hirsi Ali of labelling Islam dangerous "without differentiating Islam from radical Islam".
The killing of Van Gogh, known for his provocative columns and movies, triggered debate about the limits of free speech in the liberal Netherlands. Justice Minister Piet Hein Donner even called for the revival of a 1930s law condemning blasphemy and hurtful language. - Sapa-AP
Here, here. This woman is truly courageous and I hope she doesn't end up like Theo van Gogh, Alan Berg or Veronica Guerin. The lawyer representing these scum who want to stifle dissent--his name appears to be Jewish. Is he nuts?
Is there anyway possible we can have this movie relaesed in this USA?
That is because there is no difference. One is public, the other private. The goals are the same, the desire to remove all infidels is the same, the worship of a pedophile (may he rot in hell forever between two pigs) is the same.
Islam hates the truth as evil hates the light.
The truth about Islam can be seen in what it does, not what is says.
Yep,
Heck, a good percentage of Israel (probably a third) thinks like that also. They are so filled with hatred towards their oppressors (conservatives who happen to read a bible once in a while) that they are willing to consort with people who want to exterminate them.
No they're not nuts, they're sick (same thing, I guess).
"Is there anyway possible we can have this movie relaesed in this USA?"
I'm sorry to tell you that the only place that I knew of that showed the film just took it down: http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2655656?htv=12
I knew that they were getting huge amounts of threats (both physical and legal), and I guess it got to be too much for them. Have a look at the site anyway. I'll look for other sites.
For everyone - this should tell you something about the enemy that we all face. Let's see if the ACLU comes to our rescue.
OK... hopefully that movie will be properly translated / subtitled into English and we can get the DVD.
bttt
Hmmm. There is a lot of self-hatred in the Jewish community, but many of us are coming to recognize our enemy is on the left, not the right. Look at David Horowitz, Alan Dershowitz, Ron Silver and others. And from what I've read, most Israelis love George Bush and welcome the Christians from the right. Part of what drove me out of the left was the rampant hatred of Israel and Jews in general (though they try to deny it publicly, I have been ear witness to their behind the scenes anti-semetism, especially among black leftists.) I'm a newbie, but I have been really touched by the pro-Israel sentiment here on FR.
Actually the film is in English, except for a Prayer at the beginning.
Anyway, I found a site that has the text of the movie. Take a look, it is very, very, powerful. You'll quickly understand why Theo needed to be silenced. Any daylight on this 'religion' will cause it to immediately collaspe.
"There is a lot of self-hatred in the Jewish community..."
Agreed, but based on the way Bush treated the Israel during his first term, he should have gotten 75% of the Jewish vote, not 25%. While some are starting to see the light, overall the Jews still have a long, long way to go before they support the people protecting them.
Politically, it's sad but true. The real gain provided to President Bush in supporting Israel was the support it brought him from the Christian community. Without the Christians, Israel would be wiped off the map. Pretty sad.
Mark Dayton?
"Mark Dayton?"
What did he do?
That's pretty insulting, pretty bad.
The murder of the film maker did not help the Dutch Muslim's cause. But with this known, they likely would have gotten a sympathetic ear from other religions that have been peed on by the liberals.
No matter what you think of someone's religion, they are going to be upset when scenes like this appear.
He closed his Senate offices in DC because "security concerns."

Change is difficult for Jews, who have trusted before and been burnt. American Jews are not the same as Israelis, and don't understand the wolf at the door has come for them. That is why I never stop hammering at Jews (My mother was a Jew, my father was a Christian--I identify as a Messianic Jew) to wake up. But the majority of Israelis were happy that George W. was re-elected. High profile right-wing Jews must continue to speak out for conservative principles here in America.
Wow....I watched it the other day. Its not exactly a Speilburg spectacular and lasts about 11 minutes. Basically a veiled woman recounting abuse she had suffered from her Islamic family. What upset some Muslims about the film is the use of Koranic verses written on a female body and the exposure from a see through burka of some sort.
They never say what verses, though. I wonder why. Does anybody know?
We have your back. To the death if neccessary.
