'Ocean's Twelve' Stars on 'Moral Values' Clooney, Damon, Pitt, Zeta-Jones and More on Hollywood vs. the Heartland Dec. 2, 2004 - In the new film "Ocean's Twelve," a variety of Hollywood A-listers play professionals, each with a special skill, who band together to pull off a gambit none of them could accomplish individually. The film might be seen as a metaphor for real life.
When movie stars come together, they're often recognized as a force to be reckoned with -- and not just at the box office. They're seen collectively as "the Hollywood liberal elite."
Six of "Ocean's" stars -- George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Andy Garcia and Don Cheadle -- recently sat down with ABC News' Diane Sawyer for an exclusive interview about family, fame and public perception.
After one of the most heated presidential campaigns in recent memory, Saywer asked them to reflect on the outcome, the importance of moral values and the idea they are on the opposite side of that dividing line.
"We are, in fact, at times defensive of the idea that there's this disconnect between us and the rest of the country," Clooney said.
"We are actually, all of us, conservative, not liberal, whatever We are reflections of that society. And we're a product of it."
Movie stars who grew up in Middle American families are troubled by the idea that the country does not think they belong to them.
Pitt grew up in Missouri with an upbringing he describes as "Baptist and then a more nondenominational charismatic kind of movement."

Why demonise like that? Let them do that. The 'Great Deniro' is also liberal btw.
The statistic I heard related to party of registration. I have no problem believing most go GOP in presidential elections.
He is. I have never seen a bigger Conersavtive in my life. A Conersavtive by definition being the composite of:
- A unisexual reproductive structure of gymnospermous plants
- Used to form the comparative degree of adjectives and adverbs: darker; faster.
- Submerged Aquatic Vegetation
But, for those that misread the word, a Conservative he is not.
Everyone in America has a right to express themselves and live their lives as they wish. What they do not have is the right to force my kids and me to accept and approve of the way they live.
Garcia is a conservative who has never been a part of those voter drives.
And Geena Davis...though folks like that tend to bring to mind a phrase I heard often in boot camp (and even directed at MOI once, lol)...."educated idiots."
I think that sums up nicely. ;)

No.
From the UN web site:

Douglas co-produced The China Syndrome with Jane Fonda.
His advocacy for social causes did not stop with production of The China Syndrome. In 1991, he founded a non-profit organization called the Michael Douglas Foundation to promote peace and sustainable development.
Anyone taking bets that Michael lives in a "sustainable" housing development, or that any other part of his life style is "sustainable?
It's the same old story, he got his, now we all have to do without.
Michael is a "UN Messenger for Peace".
IIRC he is also an advocate for banning guns in American citizens hands.
What does what an individual was "raised as" mean other than their parents were religious? The point is not what were your parents, but, what are you.
There have always been bad movies. There are plenty of good ones now you just have to know where to look. Just dismissing the entire American film industry like that isn't all that diffrent from people who make knee jerk statements about Christians as 'red necks' and so forth. I cringe either way.
I heard somewhere that he was conservative. Looks like I'm wrong.
Okay, I forgive Catherine Z-J. But Clooney isn't nearly as easy on the eyes.
Actually, I don't much care what movie stars think about politics. Same for musicians. Only if they go out of their way to disparage my beliefs, then I take exception. For instance, if they insult Bush, it's no big deal. Look at the things we still say about Clinton. But when they go after the voters for being Republican, then that is different. Julia Roberts went on to insult all Republicans. Now that is stupidity on parade. Go ahead and insult 52% of your potential revenue stream. Not too bright. As to Clooney, Pitt, and others: I haven't heard them demean Republicans, just the President, and we do have free speech in this country. We should be glad for that, considering what most of us were saying about the President between 1992-2000. As to the movie, I won't go to the theaters to see it, but will get the DVD. The first one was pretty entertaining.
