"Wear your dancin' shoes, exit148... the ones you wore at the first FR Ball. Of all the ladies in attendance, you probably had the happiest feet in the place."

Just to explain this: I was helping with the setting up of the ballroom on the day of the Ball. I was dressed in sweats and stuff. Also, I was staying in a Marriott across the street and around the corner. Since it was a snowy, slushy late afternoon, I brought my dress and all that goes with it to the hotel so that I didn't have to go back and forth. Well, when it was time to get dressed, I realized that I had forgotten to take my shoes! So ---- rather than go out in that messy weather, I wore black running shoes under this long, lovely, crepe, two-piece black dress. Of course no one noticed the shoes, as the dress was long, but I was the only one still with a smile at the end of the evening!! I think I am going to wear slippers this time!

Great idea!!! I may wear mine too. But, would they clash with my red beaded dress? What do you think?

Okay, haven't done this kind of thing before (formal occasion in cold weather -- don't have much of that here!) So what sort of coat will I need?

Anyone have any advice?

My dress is black with shoulder straps, velvet. Do I need a long formal coat? Will a longer nice black wool coat suffice?

Sorry, I'm clueless.
