EU out to destroy Britain (with red tape and bureaucracy, says Europhile Minister)

EU out to destroy Britain
Europe Minister ... Denis MacShane
Europe Minister ... Denis MacShane

DENIS MacShane blasted Brussels yesterday for trying to “punish” Britain over its buoyant economy.

The Europhile minister accused eurocrats of trying to strangle Britain’s job market with bureaucracy.

Mr MacShane told EU ambassadors in London: “I am surprised at the desire of so many in Brussels to punish Britain.

“If you took out the UK contribution in growth and job creation, Europe’s economic performance statistics would be much worse.

“But what is the response of member states? It is to seek to destroy the active labour market Labour Britain is promoting.”

He said they were taking Britain towards “rigid labour markets” and “a made-in-Brussels straightjacket.”

His words stunned MPs. Shadow Europe Minister Graham Brady said: “Even the insanely federalist Denis MacShane appears to accept our EU partners are trying to bring Britain down to the level of their busted economies.

"Hopefully he will now admit the EU constitution would be bad for Britain.”

Mr MacShane said Labour has created two million jobs since 1997 — but accused Brussels of trying to torpedo this with red tape on work hours.

He added that other EU states had archaic work practices.

The joke is, that 30 years ago, we voted to join the "Common Market" as it was referred to then. That was fair enough, a simple trading zone, nothing more.

But since then, and without referendum, we have had more and more of our rights and sovereignty given away to unelected (socialist) officials in Brussels and we now stand on the brink of being absorbed into a European superstate with largely different interests to our own.

AND Tony Blair (beloved as he is on your side of the pond) is one of the principle authors of all this. He is a grade A Europhile who has done more to give away our sovereignty than any other Briton since Ted Heath (probably more than Heath in Truth). If Blair had been unopposed we would now be using the Euro instead of our own currency and we would be even deeper entrenched in EU madness than we are already.

Blair, although is respected here mostly due to his standing with the US, not for his domestic or EU policies. IMHO, the EU scum must bring Blair down for the sole purpose of the last bridge with the US.

I find this EU attitude to be a last ditch effort of any kind of salvation for their dream of a welfare state.

While I wish well for the Brits, their elections are their biz and not ours. Personally, I would like to see the UK start kicking some Euroscum butt and take a more of a leadership role but under the current political climate of "hate America", Islam..ing Europe and the well known British view of tolerance wearing thin, Im not sure what will be in store for the UK in the future. All the bestto you tho.

Or rather, we were told that it was just a trading zone; the foundations of 'ever closer union' go right back to the Treaty of Rome, and the Werner Commission originally proposed the single currency to have effect by 1980.

Either our leaders (especially Sir Ted Heath) were mislead, or they mislead us. I reckon the former for Thatcher and the Single European Act, but the latter for many, perhaps most, others.

There are limits, Dog, there are limits. How about this, you return to being subjects of the Queen rather than subjects of the over paid under worked tax exempt cadre in Brussels and we'll just continue on as citizens of your friendly neighborhood republic.

I thank you for the response sir, but,, I am not British, I am a American , born and raised here.
England is about the only country I respect from Europe, I never did trust the french, and Germany.
I sure hate to see England corrupted by the EU Union , or destroyed by France or Germany.
About the only true and trustworthy Allies the USA has now, is England, Israel, and Japan.

RENOUNCH THE EU and join the USA in a union.

But you'd all have to start driving on the left if the USA became part of the United Kingdom ;-)

Explain to me, how can 480 million people just roll over and let their countries cease to exist?

I'll answer you: next year the citizens of the UK will have a referendum on whether to ratify the EU Constitution. The vote will be overwhelmingly 'No'. Nobody sensible is claiming otherwise. And then things will start to get interesting. Possibly Tony Blair will use it as an excuse to stand down.

And please, not only for your own country but also mine (New Zealand), vote out the leftists and purge the entire chattering class from your media, academia, and any other public spheres. :-)

Because your country is still the single most powerful influence on ours, most Kiwis in this country enthusiatically and slavishly follow what your Left had proposed - and their dreams have become laws and habits down here. And we are rapidly becoming a laughing stock in the English-speaking world as a result.

You'll have to learn how to play proper football too, and stop calling it soccer.

;o)

Actually in New Zealand we also call the sport soccer even among the most British-influenced WWII veteran generation. Strictly speaking there is no sport we call football in NZ - we call them rugby, league, American football, soccer, Canadian football, or Australian football.

The french and germans love the brits' money. In true democratic fashion, it give them someone elses money to spend because theirs is running out.

I know lots of English people who call it soccer; the only REAL football is rugby (rugby union, of course).

On the whole getting the leftists out thing, we're doing our best, but the Tory Party has spent the last 7 years committed hara kiri, and at least 10 years fighting other Tories rather than the opposition. Only a housing market collapse (not beyond the realms of possibility) would probably kick out Labour next time, though a large fall in their majority is very possible which could make the Commons unpredictable.
