What Really Happened?: Survey Results Debunk the Myths of 2004 Election

GUEST COLUMNISTS

Washington. The theories from liberals and the old media as to why John Kerry lost the presidential election reconfirm that they just don't understand the values and priorities of middle-class America. While they seem to believe that most Americans who voted for President Bush are idiots, religious zealots, or both, the results from our post-election survey show the American people gave President Bush a clear victory for practical and common-sense reasons. They voted for George W. Bush because they trusted his character and were more in agreement with him on the two most important issues of the day: fighting the war on terror and improving the economy.

In spite of what liberals and the media may say, the voters made an educated and rational decision in giving President Bush a clear victory on Election Day.

Myth #1: The American people don't like George W. Bush or his policies.

Fact: A clear majority of voters (54 percent) approves of the job Bush has done as President.

Ironically, President Bush's favorable rating was lower than his job approval rating. This means people voted for Bush because they believed he was doing a good job and agreed with him on the most important issues of the day, which were keeping America safe from terror and improving the economy.

Myth #2: American voters didn't vote for Bush; they were voting against Kerry, and didn't want to change horses during a time of war.

Fact: 83 percent of Bush voters said they were voting for George W. Bush; while only 11 percent said they were voting against John Kerry. The leading responses as to why Americans voted for Bush were because they felt he was doing a good job and they agreed with him on the issues.

How do you figure? They had to lie and distort the facts about the Bush administration as it was and that means the only way they can win is to deceive.

Perhaps you could expound upon your curious thought (it frankly sounds absurd on its face).

At least the gigilo had to work his ass and whore his way to the money... the fratboy cheerleader got it all from daddy.

Well, you sound nuts in addition to being flat out wrong.

Name one thing the gigilo ever did that required effort. GWB has a list a mile long and none include his "daddy".

And in a society that prides itself on hundreds of choices in soap, soda, soup or sex videos, the American people had their choice limited to these two Yalie bonesmen.

As to someone that asserts there are similarities between Kerry and Bush, well, one must have sub-par intelligence in the moron category to state such.

Oh, they have a few qualified candidates. Lieberman or Zell Miller come to mind. Given the leftist nature of the domb-o-crap party, they could never get the nomination.

Enlighten me!

As I understand it, W went into the oil drilling business, drove dry wells, but was bought out for a bundle anyway. Then he went into the baseball business, headed a consortium that used the power of eminent domain to condemn land for a stadium, and then used city tax revenues to build the stadium for his team. And made a bundle. The family name and connections had nothing to do with this?

Your "understanding" is wrong.

Lieberman would not have beaten George W. Bush and Miller supported him. The assertion was made that Bush could be beaten by means other than lying, etc. The obvious fact is that is false.

What was the name of that Newsweek asst. editor who said that the MSM's bias toward Kerry was worth 15% of the vote? I believe it. Had the MSM fulfilled the role of an objective reporter of the campaign, not as a cheerleader with a partisan agenda, Bush would have won by probably 18% (the 3% he won by, plus an additional 15% for lack of media bias). A 59%-41% Bush vs. Kerry win -- a Reaganesque margin of victory -- sounds about right to me.

We can be greatly encouraged by the fact that the MSM threw everything they could at Pres. Bush, including making things up when they ran out of ammo, and he still won.

Actually, if the RATS had put up a candidate that wasn't a traitorous, lying, scumbag, they would have taken the White House.

Other than Zell Miller, who might that have been?

GWB has a list a mile long and none include his "daddy".

As much as I admire "H", "W" has proven to be a much better leader and president than his father.

I see that you're conveniently leaving out the fact that GW Bush made MAJOR changes to the education system in Texas and both Hispanic and Black educators in that state credit him with literally saving the lives of tens of thousands of minority children.

Previously, children were taught by the newer "whole language skills" vs. phonics. Educators in the very best schools in the nation say that phonics is the only way to teach a child to read but the elites around the country have decided that keeping kids dumb is the only way to garner votes for the DNC.

His family name didn't have anything to do with that accomplishment. Didn't have anything to do with his other accomplishments either, btw.

....."How do you figure?"......

One half the voting population, give or take, are RATS.

Some of us devout Pubbies see our President as a caring individual, who took charge after 9-11.

But without that disaster and his chance to formulate the "Bush doctrine", his inarticulateness; inability to speak coherently; and the media making him out to be Cheney's puppet, he would surely have been doomed. His war in Afganistan to clean out the cockroaches was carried out brilliantly, but we stopped short of a full court press on Binnie.

Our foray into Iraq, with all good intentions was doomed to not find WMD, as we amassed at the border and played twiddlewinks while the UN didn't have the balls to act on it's resolutions. I'm positive that in the dark of the night, all the bad stuff was being buried under the sands or harbored in another country, just waiting for the infidels to go home: yet we're not even protecting our borders

Saddam shouldn't have the Geneva convention to fall back on, he needs an immediate hit of sodium penathol (sp?) to open up his tongue, so we can end this war. The rest of the dirty ragheads need to be exterminated. We're bogged down while our guys are being killed and wounded, and us pubbies know it.

If the RATS had been able to find a credible candidate who could have articulated a positive message, I think that there are enough Pubbies who would have voted for other than Bush.

But, on the other hand, what a sorry band of fools that their party tried to foist off on America, and Kerry was the worst of them!

"Any American was free to write-in Pat Buchanan."

Not in my state. Write-ins are not allowed. But that's alright, I'm happy with whom I voted for.

Did you see the RTD editorial titled "Stupid" today?

Those who voted for John Kerry - in some cases, against George Bush - have reacted to the election with a smug superiority seldom seen. Herewith some quotes from Kerry supporters (or Bush opponents):

-I'm saddened by what I feel is the obtuseness and shortsightedness of a good part of the country - the heartland. This kind of redneck, shoot-from-the-hip mentality and a very concrete interpretation of religion is prevalent in Bush country - in the heartland. New Yorkers are more sophisticated and at a level of consciousness where we realize we have to think of globalization, of one mankind, that what's going to injure masses of people is not good for us. - New Yorker Joseph Zito
