I worte Craig a fairly scalding letter about it...never heard back from him. I also wrote our other Senator, Crapo, and he wrote backl a long reply saying he was against what Craig had introduced.

We shall see. Folks here are not for it.

Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., wanted additional provisions dealing with illegal immigration. "Unfortunately, the Senate has refused to consider many of the provisions, tagging them as extraneous or controversial," he said.

Notice that this reason is almost completely ignored by the MSM this morning, even FOX.

Yes, it's quite amazing. Most people I've tried to tell about this agreement just prefer to call me a liar. You can't make up this stuff!

This, however, is quite telling.

Mexican government is riffed with corruption. Not good. Mexico needs a strong dose of what Chile had under Augusto Pinochet. Mexico has lots of potentials to be an economic powerhouse. I believe during both World War I and World War II, Mexico had ties to America's enemy. Remember the Zimmermann Telegraph? I know during World War II, many Latin American nations had to ties to the Axis.

I noticed that.... When this comes back up in the 109th congress, we are all going to have to rally the forces to contact our reps on tough provisions.. In a manner of months, congress critters coming up for re-election / elections in 2006, so it is the PERFECT TIME to apply the pressure. Both pubs and dems want illegals OUT.

It's an attempt at blackmail.

I think the wording is a bit strong but in principle, correct. Mexico clearly wants more concessions from the US on illegal immigrants. One logical approach for them would be to establish relations with Iran. Then, when the US wants world-wide sanctions against Iran to curb its nuclear ambitions, Mexico has a "bargaining chip." They will agree to sanctions for some improvement in the status of illegal immigrants.

I recently read a column in the Washington Times that addresses the issue of illegal immigrants. Basically, our government and the Repubs in particular are playing with dynamite. Specfically:

Washington Times, November 15-21, 2004
Culture, etc.

"The Coming Storm"

"Despite the Wall Street Journal's claim that support for Proposition 200 was 'plummeting,' Arizonans voted heavily for the bvallot initiative that aims to stop illegal aliens from receiving involuntary taxpayer subsidies, voting in elections, etc.

Proposition 200's grassrotts triumph in the teeth of the united opoisiton of the entire political establishment and its media mouthpieces is, as with California's similar Proposition 187 [in 1994], a further illustration of the extraordinary powre of the immigration issue.

That the political establishment's opposition remains absolute - typically, on election night, CBS News' Dan RAther never even mentioned Proposition 200 in his interview with Arizona 's Sen. John McCain - is further eveidence of the irrepressible seismic conflict taht mass immigration is causing to build up unter the sufrace of American political life."
