Until we close the border and place armed troops on it as they do at thier southern border, Mexico will continue to laugh at us......No need to hide the fact our border policy is a big joke!......

And this is a surprise? They have the means to get the mullahs' terrorists over the border and into our country and the will to add dollars to their corrupt pockets.

Because of their warm bodies here that vote and may vote; seal the effing border!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe, but that is an incredibly riskly move, politically speaking, regardless of party affiliation, and one that could backfire in a very big way. A lot of the current crop of "immigrants" come here to work. What happens with the second generation once they discover our lovely social welfare system? The second generation is likely to follow the party with the most hand outs and that might generate enough votes to seal the deal for the Socialist Democrat Party

I also think it's a very bad idea to allow all those dollars to flow south.

You are not racist. Racism means that you expect a certain behavior from someone because of their skin color/race. We therefore see that many Democrats and liberals are far more racist than you or I ever will be.

I don't know if I am overstepping my bounds to ping everyone back to post #43, if so, I'm sorry.

If I heard correctly, this morning FOX news was reporting that President Bush told Vicente Fox this weekend at the meeting in Chili, that he was pushing for AMNESTY. Did I hear that correctly?? That's a far cry from a worker program obviously. Please advise. If this is the case, and Dubya is supporting amnesty AND DL"s for illegals, I am totally against this. It's just insane.

If this is true, can all of us who agree on the issue of DL's for illegals, take some time to call the WH and tell him how we feel, and also contact the two Senators that are holding out till this provision is strengthened. We have got to let the WH know.

First, this is just wrong. During a time of war when we know OTM's are flooding over the border, this is a MAJOR THREAT to our national security. Second, it's unfair to those that follow our immigration policies, and American citizens forced to foot the bill. Last, illegals should NOT be able to vote, period. Citizens ONLY.

Thanks for letting me rant.

for many in mexico, there's no sense of a "connection" with the rest of the country...maybe they can get involved with local politics, but this is very personal and often has little to do with what goes on in the country as a whole.

time / money factors get in the way (i say this from what i've seen with my family there)

It was a pretty decent movie. I think it was on last weekend on one of the Action channels.

If I recall correctly, it was also the first movie to get the PG-13 rathing.

"The real threat to Social Security doesn't come from giving young people this opportunity. The threat comes from the Bush Administration's plan to load illegal aliens into the Social Security system, an idea that would skyrocket costs and bankrupt the system at the same time that baby boomers flood into their benefit years."

This isn't the only problem with Social Security, AuntB. As you probably know, the Trust Fund is supposed to have around $1.3 trillion in cash in its accounts, but in fact it has that amount in non-marketable bonds, the cash having been taken.

Now obviously those bonds have the good name of the US Government on them, and one would not call that into question. But it is still a very big liability, and growing by the year.

One hopes that the Administration's initiative to bring young people into private insurance will stop the hole getting bigger, because the less money that is paid into the Fund, the smaller the surplus, and the less can be appropriated for shall we say "other purposes".

But it does mean that the day of reckoning becomes more finite.

How will it be paid for?

I have long argued that radical Islam would not attack California because of the huge number of Mexican citizens here.

Meanwhile, based upon this old news article it appears that some in the Bush Administration "gets it" about Mexico.

Back in the days before ousting Saddam Mexico refused to back us. The Economist reported from Mexico City

"One American diplomat has given warning that a Mexican No could 'stir up feelings' against Mexicans in the United States. He draws comparisons with the Japanese-Americans who were interned after 1941, and wonders whether Mexico 'wants to stir the fires of jingoism during a war'."

http://www.economist.com/cities/displaystory.cfm?story_id=1608395

If it was serious then it is sure serious now.
