President Bush stepped into the middle of a confrontation and pulled his lead Secret Service agent away from Chilean security officials who barred his bodyguards from entering an elegant dinner for 21 world leaders Saturday night.
Several Chilean and American agents got into a pushing and shoving match outside the cultural center where the dinner was held. Bush noticed the fracas after posing for pictures on a red carpet with the summit host, Chilean President Ricardo Lagos and his wife and first lady Laura Bush.
True, true and we probably would not have even seen the story if it had been Clinton. If it had been Clinton, the agent would have lost his position, if not rank.
I don't blame it on ANYONE! I don't think it's a big deal. Neither did President Bush.
Why does every fun and empowering event have to devolve a downside? Geez.

"Yeah, but the Secret Service saw it coming. Didn't they? So, who is to blame here?"

Please try to read what you've already written.
I'm misrepresenting? From the Times article:
"The Chileans, he said, were determined to take charge of security, but the president of the United States is the only world leader who takes his bodyguards with him wherever he goes. Normally, foreign countries defer to that demand. The Chilean security detail resisted, the source said, and was determined to take a stand at the dinner. "That's what the argument this afternoon was about," he said. "I saw this coming."
Hmmm. "I saw this coming." But, that's okay FO, you've got something to be agitated about tonight and after all - isn't that what Free Republic is all about? I'd love to be one of the gang around here but, honestly, most of the time I can't figure out what I'm supposed to be pissed off about. I think things are going swimmingly in our little conservative world.
You're not very bright. Give up the little stalking episode.
That's lovely.
I first saw it on Yahoo News, then I was going to post it on FR. But after doing a search on FR first, I found that it had already been posted and at that time had over 300 post.
As for stalking, I wasn't the one to attempt to communicate with you in private mail,...as you did me. I don't know why you consider my posts stalking.
It helped me quit....
Its a good thing President Bush doesnt coach the Pistons.
he he.
Methinks Artest would have a sore ear. Ifyaknowhatimean.
Look, my opinion is that it was no big deal. Bush was certainly not flustered by the silliness. He was grinning and jauntily shook some diplomat's hand with his roughed up pal in tow.
Which, of course, is in complete synch with my subsequent comment that "Noone is to blame".
Please refrain from posting to me. This is idiocy. Thanks.
The Chileans acted inappropriately. This raises another question about the Secret Service agent being separated from the President in the first place. The Secret Service are not paid escorts, they shadow the President to protect him.
I'll bet your day job involves eliminating dodge ball from the elementary school curriculum. Or maybe you're a CBS producer, a little bit threatened by the NEW MEDIA?
Sorry, as long as you post lies on this forum, I will use your own words to diffuse them.
A word to the wise, maybe you should think twice before you try to assault someone in freepmail.
That's our Dubya!
That's tacky.
