[history]
President Bush stepped into the middle of a confrontation and pulled his lead Secret Service agent away from Chilean security officials who barred his bodyguards from entering an elegant dinner for 21 world leaders Saturday night.
Several Chilean and American agents got into a pushing and shoving match outside the cultural center where the dinner was held. Bush noticed the fracas after posing for pictures on a red carpet with the summit host, Chilean President Ricardo Lagos and his wife and first lady Laura Bush.

As I thought, another Chilean apologist.
It's pretty sad when you have to call upon the unemployed, overpayed perfumed players in the NHL to lend an argument. BTW, here is what you said at post #841
President Bush was reaching over the backs of the Chileans. They didn't know it was him.
Those poor Chileans......they didn't know it was the President of the United States!

I watched the video and I don't like it. At first you see a fairly empty court and the one old main building with the red carpet into the entrance. There should have been more going on even at that point.
The amount of personnel there, (not counting the Pres contingent which by itself was not large) was something you might see for a US State Governor, and that also was troubling to me.
Then when the doors shut on the security agent with Bush was very troubling. Whatever protocol there was that was a problem. For instance if Chilean security saw a problem they should have been intervening earlier, also it was clear the agent was part of the POTUS contingent.
Also a very few the posters on the FREEP who seem to infer detailed knowledge on short notice of the SS arrangements for Chile are suddenly coming down on the side of the Chilean security (and against the pres.) and implying to ridicule the SS personnel and methods.
That bothers also. Not the ridicule, but the direction those posters want to go.

"I'm going by what was reported in the Chilean news article I posted earlier, and by what the reporters were saying during the video," And why would anyone base an opinion on those sources?

That's my President coming to the aide of his fellow citizen!
God Bless George W Bush!

""He's the kind of guy who would fight a rattlesnake and give the snake a two-bite head start.") I guess Dubya has read Boyd's OODA Loop book, (thinking INSIDE the decision making processes of the enemy) and will deal with enemies both foreign and domestic in a similar fashion.
Sleep easy....we're in good hands...........

Yes, if you already knew the story you could find it on google. But if you didn't, google news didn't feature it and it was hard to find. Two hours ago I searched "secret service Chile" and got just three hits.
Then I've been surfing tv news channels (including FOX) from 1 am to 3 now, and I've heard this story mentioned just once. Constant reports of basketball fracas, though.

Wrong, door did not shut. Meant when the Chilean security closed behind Pres. Bush

The scrum with Dubya reminds me of the famous picture when Oswald got killed......note all the Chilean police are armed with revolvers prominently displayed.....wouldn't be difficult for a "third party" to grab a gun and loose off a few rounds in the confusion....especially as they all have eye contact with each other and don't notice the gun being grabbed at waist level..

And why would anyone base an opinion on those sources? On what are you basing your opinion?
To: Barlowmaker
S'matter?
You can't argue you're points in public? You have to resort to a private mail assault?
To: Barlowmaker
"On what are you basing your opinion? I'm certainly not basing my opinion on two individuals who have done nothing but support the Chilean point of view tonight. And CYTD tried to be sly about it, but somehow knew about the negotiations "6 months ago". Although it only knew what it read in the press....sure.

If you haven't yet, read the article posted on post 933, it makes things clearer.

You have to resort to a private mail assault? I asked you in private mail "What's Your Problem?" That's all I said to you. You obviously have a burr up your butt about me that I wished to discuss without boring the group. That's not an "assault". Like I said before ... grow up.
