President Bush stepped into the middle of a confrontation and pulled his lead Secret Service agent away from Chilean security officials who barred his bodyguards from entering an elegant dinner for 21 world leaders Saturday night.
Several Chilean and American agents got into a pushing and shoving match outside the cultural center where the dinner was held. Bush noticed the fracas after posing for pictures on a red carpet with the summit host, Chilean President Ricardo Lagos and his wife and first lady Laura Bush.
An athlete, a scrapper, a leader........maybe not as big as some of the other guys on the team, but feistier, and afraid of nothing.
A GOOD man to have in charge of things.
Indeed!
White House press secretary Scott McClellan, referring to the Saturday night scuffle, said, "The president is someone who tends to delegate but every now and then he's a hands-on kind of guy."
Thanks. Earned the nickname because some never knew if I would fall off the line on the side of the law or if I might "bend" it a little.
Ya know, I've about worn out my patience with the condescending, bloviating, "we are such pure conservatives, we couldn't even vote for ourselves", spamming, tinfoil, "I'm afraid of Mexicans under my bed", keyboard warriors spewing the RINO label at anyone whoever disagrees in any way with them.
So screw you, and the horse you rode in on.
He didn't hesitate a bit! A man I'd certainly want on my team . . . wait a minute, he IS on my team! :-)
President Bush getting right in the middle of this cluster just makes me laugh and further validates my respect for this guy as an individual. What a hardcharger. You got that right!! :^D
Dubya to Chilean fools: "Back off, Jack!!"
bump! bump! bump!
It sounds and looks like one of the agents told him to go away and he did.
I still don't know who was doing the neck thing and why? Is that SOP for controlling someone and if so, who was doing it to whom?
I would go for the Marine Guard - esp at such a time as this.
I was looking for a spanish translation. I don't know how to spell the ones I know. All I can find from my books is stuff like "nice to meet you":')
it shows how much this man really thinks of people and how he really cares.
My horse wouldn't appreciate your atempts at that.
If that happened, the President of Chile would probably get the Nobel Peace Prize, and his security guards would receive awards for valor from five or six different nations.
The assassin would be the toast of the Middle East, and Osama Bin Laden would stand him to a feast of sheep's eyes and goat milk, and then present him with a virgin ewe for the night.
Not sure this has been mentioned, but if you look at the picture on Drudge, you can see the mysterious "communications package" he was wearing during the debates. If you save the pic and blow it up the outlines become very clear.
You rock!

Bush, the "idiot," Bush the "cowboy," Bush, who kneels in front of God, did the right thing once again in front of the world. Yes, all those "leaders" ought to reflect on what Bush is really about and why we re-elected him into The Office.
"Do NOT Mess with Texas.
I love my President. Go GW !!"
I'd like to second that. Whatever his flaws, GWB is a real MAN (unlike the corrupt sleazeball we had in the White House during most of the 90's), and this Chilean incident only serves to boost my regard of him.
When the s**t goes down, Bush doesn't back away. Whether the challenge is ousting a brutal dictator like Saddam Hussein, fighting the leftist media to protect his cabinet from character attacks, or taking apart a scuffle involving his own body guard before it can escalate, Bush does it with courage and convictions.
Bush was his own Secret Service for a moment because he needed to be. Clinton would have probably seen the scuffle, scanned the crowd to see if anybody was watching him, and fled to Canada.
From the looks of it, there was quite a bussle.......worthy of a purple heart and bronze star?
hehe! :^D
Thank you, kindly! :^D
