Can the Pentagon charge Kevin Sites?

Was not the reporter under the duty to hand over this tape to military authorities,under the rules of imbeds? If that's the case then strong measures should be taken against Sites. Also has Sites been removed from that Marine unit,because at this point i"m sure his presence is a distraction to the Marines and therefore endangers their lives. Sites has to be removed from that unit at the very least.

"So what does that say about the beliefs of those who wanted this deed concealed? Do they really believe their own claims that the Marine was right in doing this? Or is their opposition to the tape being shown rooted in a subconscious belief that the Marine was in the wrong?
I am a couple of days late to this post but hey..
You have made some very good points. I think that people here are upset because the images have already clearly been used to impact public opinion.
More importantly, the Al Jazeera tactic of playing the images repeatedly can only be for one purpose and that is to incite and motivate more jihadists. THAT is something that we certainly do not need.
Personally, I think that such a tactic would be effective in motivating people to action and/or support of action. As far as I am concerned the images of 9-11 should never be allowed to leave the public consciousness. The Old Media has tried to do (and has been effective) that since the first week or so after the attacks.
These new images are clearly going to be used as propaganda for a good while to come. Reporters such as Sites have an agenda and they are not objective. That is quite obvious and it is pissing a lot of people off. I don't think that he should be executed, but his embedded status should be reconsidered, especially if he has been contributing to anti war web sites or such things similar.
