I am being sued for something that happened at the December 2000 Freep of Joe Lieberman.
JimRob has allowed me to hold an internet fundraiser to help defray the costs of my lawyers fees.
I am broke and thousands of dollars in debt, and depending on how much I can collect here, I amnot sure if I can continue or work to sign a mutual release if offered.
Right now, we have ended the discovery phase, and are awaiting the deposition of the man who accused me of assaulting him that day.
That charge is a lie.
The following story below is my short account of what happened that day.

I sympathize with your employment situation. I've worked for the same company since 1997 but in '01 they changed my status to temporary and lay me off for the winter. This is my last week of work for a while.
I need a different job (with benefits) but this one pays fairly well and allows me some flexibility which I need to take care of an elderly parent.
Army, yes. We do a lot of joint ops, now. On any post you'll see all branches. How's the collection going? I wish your lawyer would read this thread, you know the other guy's lawyer will.

Perhaps it has been asked/answered in this 1000+ thread, but time prevents me from reading this thread.
Do you have a public defender or a paid attorney?
Has the thought of a countersuit been discussed with your attorney? I am not indicating this person assaulted you, but there are other defenses such as Abuse of Process and other anti-frivolous lawsuit defense measures.
Were there other cameras in the crowd? Was anybody videotaping the event? Were any TV NEWS people there?
This seems a little strange and I hope you are getting good legal advice. If you can't afford it, then make sure you have a good public defender.
I have been invloved in a frivolous lawsuit myself and I have excellent attorneys on my side. I hope you are getting the excellent advice I am receiving.

I, unfortunately, am in somewhat similiar situation as you.
I have been in temp work for the last 3 years...this is my second year being unemployed at Christmas time. Single mother, deadbeat ex. Wish I had the funds to send to you.

Race, we weren't at liberty to say this before discussing it with him, but Lightingguy's brother is a lawyer in New Haven, he talked to him this evening, told him all about your case (he's quite familiar with those involved) and his brother would love to talk to you.
