NOTES FROM BENJ'S MOM,SHIRLEY!
Dear family and friends, Benjamin is in Germany now. We still don't
have specific info about his injuries but know that both legs are in
casts. We also know that he should be in Germany for a week and then he
will be flown to his base--29 Palms, CA--to be processed and then he
should be coming to NY for medical leave. I have no idea how long he
will be here but it should at least be long enough that he will be here
for the birth of the baby and for Christmas. No idea what happens after
that. God has done exceedingly above and beyond what we could have asked
or thought. We have much for which to be thankful. Thanks so much to
all of you who have so faithfully prayed, called, sent encouragement, and
shared your loved. We have gone through all of this surrounded by so
much love and we are thankful for that. We will continue to send you any
new information that we get. Thanks again. Love, Shirley/mom
PS All of this means no hospitalization in the states which was
something that we had been expecting. PTL
Dear family and friends, So much has happened today. We just talked to
Benjamin and to me he sounded very good. He is tired and sore but ok.
He will have a procedure tomorrow to clean out his wounds and they have
x-rayed the ankle and will determine if it needs pins. He is coming to
the USA either Friday or Saturday, going to CA and will come home from
there. We are praying that he will be home for Thanksgiving--we can't
even remember the last Thanksgiving that we were all together. It is
possible that the last one was when Elizabeth was 2 years old--the last
one before Daniel went to Italy. OK--back to story--. We don't know how
long Benjamin will be here after that. Other details--Benjamin's legs
were not casted--they were bandaged. The ankle is fractured. He was
grazed by a bullet on one thigh, hit by a bullet on the other. PTL he
isn't going to arrive with two legs in casts!! We were wondering how we
were even going to get him into the house!! One last story and I will
let you go. I had told him that when Elizabeth was crying after she had
found out that he was shot, I was telling her that his wounds could have
been a whole lot worse. Benj asked me if I wanted him to tell me a
story. Foolish me said yes. Curiosity will kill the cat!! Anyway.
When he was shot he had a pouch on that had seven grenades in it. A shot
went through the pouch and shot off the tip of a grenade. He could have
been blown to smithareens. PTL, he was not!! Well, I must go. I need
to be at church in nine minutes. I love you all and am thankful for each
one. I am sorry that I have not been able to respond to each message in

THANKYOU FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS!
Dear all, I know that some of you got "the word" at church today but it
is now easier to send this to the whole list. Benjamin is in the USA.
He has made it as far as Washington DC. We don't know where in
Washington DC but somewhere. He is on the "slow boat" to California.
The plane will be stopping and dropping off troops at bases across the
country. He got to Washington late in the day on Saturday and will be
there possibly until Monday. I don't know whether he will make it home
for Thanksgiving but we will be thankful to get him whenever he arrives.
Once he gets to California there will be some medical work to do and I am
sure paperwork to get him processed.
Other news--a Life magazine photographer was taking pictures
during Benjamin's surgery. It should be in next month's issue. The
local paper called and wants to have a photographer at the airport when
he comes home. No more news--it is just a waiting game now. Thanks

Benjamin is in a hospital in San Diego, CA--Sunday night. He will have
surgery by monday AM.. More news on Monday. I HAVE to get to bed!!

UPDATE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We got word tonight that in Benjamin's latest surgery they closed up all
his wounds. He has a "space boot" on the foot that was injured. We are
waiting to talk to the nurse one more time night. This should be the
beginning of the end of his hospitalization!! We are very excited. We
will let you know when he heads for home. Oh, he got his Purple Heart
today--delivered by a general. Must go. with love and thanks for your

Dear family and friends, This may be the last or at least the
next-to-last update on Benjamin. He is probably spending the weekend out
of the hospital with friends back in 29 Palms, CA--his home base. He has
a doctor's appointment in San Diego on Monday and then either he will
have to stay in CA until Friday to have the stitches out or they will let
him come home to New York during the week and let him get the stitches
out here. By the end of next week it will be just one week until the
baby's due date so I guess that they are finally trying to push. He
sounded very upbeat yesterday and we had a great Thanksgiving even though
he was not here at our table. We will let you know when he has his
ticket in hand. He should be here in NY for at least a month. Thanks

Dear family and friends, Tomorrow (Wednesday) we will be meeting
Benjamin at the airport. We can't wait to see him!! He will be in NY
for just about a month. On the 30th of December he has another dr's appt
in San Diego. That will probably be when they start to decide what his
future with the Marines looks like. He cannot put any weight on his
right foot for a month and cannot run or carry much weight for a year.
It will be good to see what he actually looks like for ourselves!!

local media was there,and they where interviewing all the family and benj.
my dear brother and benj's dad our dear pastor told them they are joyfully basking in the grace and mercy of our Lord.
once again i thankyou and the family thanksyou for your prayers and support.
i will update as soon as the baby is born.
