Keillor: Born-agains should not have right to vote

Speaking in the aftermath of the presidential election, Democrat radio host Garrison Keillor says he is on a quest to take away the right of born-again Christians to vote, saying their citizenship is actually in heaven, not the United States.

Keillor, host of the popular National Public Radio show "A Prairie Home Companion," made the comments during a speech at Chicago's Rockefeller Memorial Chapel and during his radio monologue the Saturday after the election.

Are you daring to suggest that we should sit idly by while the world is in motion?

Romans 3: 31- Do we then by this faith make the Law of no effect, overthrow it or make it a dead letter? Certainly not! On the contrary, we confirm and establish and uphold the Law.

We are given this opportunity on earth to perform our tasks and to glorify God's name. Why then, should we sit by and let His name be destroyed?

I have both feet in this world, but my spirit is with God. We must live in our convictions, according to what pleases God.

Well, if Keillor "admits" born agains are going to heaven, he must somehow know something the rest of us don't. Actually, he's not "admitting" ANYTHING, just poking fun at the holier-than-thou types who are just so positive that they're going to be sitting at the right hand of the Lord, no matter how much blood is on their hands over in Iraq right now.

Keillor was making a joke, people. If you are so strong and confident in the Lord and in your president, if you are so positive that you're doing the right thing no matter what, then why does any joke or snide comment seem to cut so closely to the bone? Why are you all so incredibly thin-skinned?? It makes you all look awfully insecure. Are you?

I couldn't care less what this cretin has to say about anything, but it infuriates me that my tax dollars go to keep this man's elitist New England crap on the air.

that's why i gave up listening to national propaganda network decades ago.

one thing that colleges and universities have done not-so-admirably in this country since the 70s is to instill a sense of superiority amongst graduates. they are better than everyone else. meanwhile, they demonstrate their betterment by shopping upscale. and one demonstration of this attitude is npr.

trader joe's radio ads remind me of npr.

Of course, Keillor wasn't above exploiting Christianity for his own popularity by recording this cd, on which Keillor sang "Softly and Tenderly," "His Eye Is On The Sparrow," "Sweet Hour Of Prayer," etc.

"I think programming should be informative, not political, if NPR and PBS are going to receive government financing."

The only programming not allowed to receive government funding is religious programming.

What do you expect from a man who's job is, by his own account, telling elaborate lies?

OK, let's accept his argument.

If our citizenship is in Heaven, then we have diplomatic immunity from the laws here in the U. S.

Works for me. If Christians can't vote, and as a result liberals are elected, then no matter what laws they pass, we have immunity from prosecution.

Howjalike those potatoes, Gar?

His is a silly argument, but if he's serious, then maybe he's about ready for what we call Day Camp. That's the place an old fart's family sends him to all day where they take care of him and feed him, and keep him from hurting himself and others.

Forgetting, of course, that it is perfectly acceptable for illegal aliens and citizens of graveyards to vote.

I remember Garrison being Master of Ceremonies for some DC event a few years back. It may have been the White House Correspondents Dinner.

I watched it on C-Spam and listened to his usual leftist rant. Of course, the WH media jackals pigging out at the hotel tables (with their be-diamoned and be-coiffed wives and mistresses) ate his speech up. Actually, he was supposed to be humorous, but he wasn't at all. His entire monologue fell flatter than Kerry's "reporting for duty" salute.

What I remember most clearly at that time was remarking to myself the fact that in the entire history of menswear from caveman days to today, Keillor has been the only fugly guy on earth whose appearance wasn't somehow enhanced by a tuxedo.

Obviously, he is a citizen of Hell. So with his logic, he should not be able to vote except in Hell. Oh wait, that's right. The "left" keeps trying to tell this earth into Hell. Nevermind.....

He went to Norway to live for a couple of years but came back when he realized he was paying $4 for a jar of peanut butter.

Actually, I think it was Denmark.
