Speaking in the aftermath of the presidential election, Democrat radio host Garrison Keillor says he is on a quest to take away the right of born-again Christians to vote, saying their citizenship is actually in heaven, not the United States.

Keillor, host of the popular National Public Radio show "A Prairie Home Companion," made the comments during a speech at Chicago's Rockefeller Memorial Chapel and during his radio monologue the Saturday after the election.

I haven't heard this particular monologue.... been at the wrong place to hear his show lately when it's been on. I'm not going to judge the joke without the punchline.

You know, if you spoke for more than ten minutes, I bet you'd say something I didn't agree with, but if you said it with wit I might still like you. Wait... that happens all the time!

I don't believe he is apostate....yet. He is conscious of the spiritual realm and acknowledges the power of religion. I personally believe he is "born-again" and has been in rebellion against the Holy Spirit's conviction for years. It might take a death or other tragedy (like what happened to Eric Clapton and Bob Dilan) before he comes back to God. And if he does, what a clamor his re dedication would make - ( Because I don't think God would allow him to remain quiet about it) It would be bigger than when the "Galloping Gourmet" got saved years ago.

Just one little problem for Mr. Keiller, the Constitution forbids a religious test. Funny thing, I think at one time he had quite a few Christian and Conservative fans but he has become so goofy about this sort of thing it is just too hard to ignor. Perhaps he was joking?

Well, apparently he goes to Episcopal services (he isn't of Scandinavian ancestry and it's said that he has never been a Lutheran). He certainly does have a fascination with religion that's rare in the media. So perhaps he'll see the light at some point, but for now politics looks like the main thing on his mind.

Garrison Keillor has always seen himself as a visonary who tell the stories of the special person within the boring and normal, but now we see he is just another holier-than-thou bigot in disguise.

Like most of you, I was offended and angry when I read this article. How dare he suggest such a thing, even in jest! But then I picked up my Bible...

Jhn 3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:

We may live in a Republic, where we have the free will to select our leaders, but it is God who casts the final vote on your eternal soul. He may choose to elect you into His Kingdom, or into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

After some reflection, I'm not as offended by this man's ignorance as I am saddened. I don't wish eternal Hell upon anybody. Forgive him Father, for he knows not what he does.
