The banging of the drum happened as soon as Ohio was in the bag for BUSH.
3% ?
Really? That's astonishing.
Is it easy to get banged up stateside then?
Over here they only seem to jail sex cases and people who shoot burglars.
Too bad you couldn't do something about that guy hanging in the plastic box all those weeks...
All that is not mandatory is prohibited.
"As of last December 31,
more than half of the probationers were white,
30 percent were black,
12 percent were Latino and
2 percent were of other races."
The US Population by Race and Ethnicity
Year 2000, Projected Figures
I have always heard it was 25-30% of prision population are illegals.
Get the comfort out of our prisons and the cost won't be so bad. Bread, water, a bed, and a toilet. That's all they should get. That combined with more executions and the populous would save tons of tax money, and the streets would be safer.
"STOP BREAKING THE LAW, A**HOLE!!"
"Too bad you couldn't do something about that guy hanging in the plastic box all those weeks..."
Yeah, that WAS criminal that was.
Considering that many, many people are in jail for simple possession of marijuana, perhaps some laws need changing so that we can make more room and spend more enforcement time and money on REAL criminals.
Then there is "dead beat dads."
That means 96.9% of us are law-abiding citizens.
Good pie chart... but still, when I see Latino, it doesn't say if they are illegals aliens or not. Obviously we all know there are more Mexican illegals here than from elsewhere. Although the numbers of OTM's have increased dramatically in the last two years.
Unfortunately, many people are only caught for a small number of the crimes they commit, and others seem to escape getting caught completely. So 31 of 32 is probably too optimistic. Some people are simply better at being crooks than others, and some are luckier. Of course their luck may run out, and it is often not be the justice system that gets them.
I'm in CA, and I *think* the number is higher... but rather than put my neck on the block, I'd truly like some hard data. Wonder where we could find that?
More inventory, more federal and state taxes for wastelands.
1 in 32? We can do better than that. I know! Let's pass MORE LAWS!!!! If we just keep making everything illegal, we should be able to get those numbers to at least 1 in 5.
" 'Did you really think that we want those laws to be observed?' said Dr. Ferris. 'We want them broken. Youd better get it straight that its not a bunch of boy scouts youre up against -- then youll know that this is not the age for beautiful gestures. Were after power and we mean it. You fellows were pikers, but we know the real trick, and youd better get wise to it. Theres no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there arent enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? Whats there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted -- and you create a nation of law-breakers -- and then you cash in on guilt. Now, thats the system, Mr. Rearden, thats the game, and once you understand it, youll be much easier to deal with.' "
