Bush Betrayal On Illegals (We Need More Secure Not More Open Borders Alert)
Worldnetdaily.com ^ | 11/15/04 | Joseph Farah

It didn't take long for President Bush to betray those who returned him to office for another four years.

The first big insult to his base came this week when he moved to resurrect his ugly plan to relax rules against illegal immigration – as if they weren't relaxed enough.

Bush reportedly met privately in the Oval Office with Sen. John McCain to discuss re-igniting his badly misguided initiative to grant legal status to millions of immigrants who broke the law to enter the United States.

McCain is one of the Senate's most outspoken supporters of expanding guest-worker programs and has introduced his own bill to offer a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants – in other words, another amnesty program like those that have failed so badly in the past. It's time for the American people to rise up, once again, and denounce this plan as vociferously as possible – not just to defeat it, but to put a stake through its heart once and for all.

The leader in Congress on this issue is Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., who characterized Bush's plan for what it is:

An amnesty by any other name is still an amnesty, regardless of what the White House wants to call it. Their amnesty plan was dead on arrival when they sent it to the Congress in January, and if they send the same pig with lipstick back to Congress next January, it will suffer the same fate.

Let's hope he is right. But, more importantly, let's be sure he is right by lending him the nationwide support he needs to ensure defeat of this dangerous proposal.

Why dangerous? Because this nation is at war. It is an unconventional war waged by monsters who have in the past used our lax immigration policies to attack us here at home – and they are certain to do so again.

As astonishing as it is to believe, U.S. borders actually became more porous following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorists attacks and the incorporation of immigration enforcement agencies within the Department of Homeland Security.

It should surprise no one that illegal immigration into the U.S. has accelerated in the last year, since Bush proposed a temporary worker program that amounts to a limited amnesty program that would allow millions to remain in the U.S. legally.

In the coming 12 months, some 3 million more illegal aliens will enter the country – "enough to fill 22,000 Boeing 737-700 airliners, or 60 flights every day for a year." According to Time magazine, this year's influx of illegal aliens is the largest wave since 2001, and illegal immigration now represents triple the number of immigrants who enter the country legally.

While new security procedures guard our airports from illegal entry, thousands of aliens walk across or drive across the Mexican border with impunity every day.

The illegal immigrants include a growing number of people categorized as "other than Mexicans," including many from nations with populations hostile to the United States – Afghanistan, Egypt, Iran and Iraq.

Americans overwhelmingly want to crack down on illegal immigration, but the government elite don't seem to want to fix the problem. Even those caught violating the border multiple times are not punished, according to the report.

Besides the security nightmare this invasion creates, illegal immigration is driving up the cost of living for American citizens and making our communities less safe.

Why does this trend continue without any real national debate? Why are our laws ignored not only by the criminal invaders but by our elected officials? Why do both political parties pretend there is no problem?

The response from the American people should be this:

Let's try enforcing the old laws before we pass any new ones.

Let's try beefing up the Border Patrol.

Let's try pressuring the companies hiring these illegal aliens to hire legal Americans.

Let's try denying taxpayer-supported social services to lawbreakers.

Let's try deportations.

Let's try enforcing criminal laws against illegal aliens just as we prosecute American citizens.

Let's encourage states and local governments to cooperate with immigration to uproot the illegals – especially those who continue to break the law.

Let's try putting the National Guard at our borders.

Let's try bringing home more than 100,000 American troops currently guarding Germany from some unknown threat and place those troops where they can make a difference – protecting America from an ongoing invasion.

Maybe the president, living in his ivory tower, doesn't realize the effects this national plague is having on ordinary Americans. It's about time he heard from us.

You act as if motel cleaners are essential to the nation's well being. Cutoff illegal immigration and if motels and restaurants can't find American workers to replace them then they should close up shop and get into something else. Who says we need all these motels and restaurants anyway?

As for legal immigration... the population, assuming we shut immigration down completely is projected to grow 70 million+ in the next 50 years, which is hardly staganation.

That has to be one of the most ignorant statements I've ever read in FR.

Pres. Bush is doing exactly what he said he would do. This is one of the reasons I voted for the man.

I don't like this particular policy, but it is NOT a surprise and its still better than what Kerry wanted to do.

You must really stop talking about yourself Luis, everytime I read your comments it's like a reading a children's book, the only missing thing are the colorful big pictures.

If you don't understand the law of supply and demand why do you come on threads like this and pretend to? Could it be you have an agenda that has nothing to do with the country's needs but rather opening the borders up to anyone who wants to come here?

Get a clue, your economic arguments for doing that are shallow and no one's buying.

Obviously, you are not a conservative. The best thing that could happen to the current social system is for it to collapse, sooner rather than later. Social security is paid for out of current taxes, there is no lockbox, there can never be under the current plan. As long as this fraud is allowed to grow, it will be a threat to the fiscal health of this nation.

So if the latinos voted for Democrats at say a 80-20 rate, you would not like them coming in?

The idiot who said that, also said this:

If there wasn't a demand for that many hotels and restaurants, then they would have shut down already, wouldn't they?

How about the REST of the people who work in those hotels and restaurants who are NOT illegal aliens...screw them, right?

Screw them because YOU don't think we need that many hotels and restaurants!

Oh, that's right!

According to YOU, the Gilligan economist, the nation would be bettr off with all those people out of work as long as we get the Messicans out of here!

Louis, get a clue, if there's a high demand for service industries like restaurants then it's most likely due to mass immigration, not in spite of it. I repeatedly point out that in those areas where's there little or no immigration the economy still hums along, now why is that?

Since you're incapable of comprehending how market forces work, let me explain:

Communities with little immigration adjust to the numbers of hotels and motels and restaurants they need. Where's there's an excess demand and not supportable by the population they go out of business and get into something else. Those businesses are also forced to pay reasonable wages to attract workers to them.

Yes massive immigration may to a certain extent help the economy expand but under that reasoning and yours we could have 5 billion people in the country and you'd still say we need more "to keep the economy growing."

The United States is not a strip mall, it's our home, which means we have to balance those factors with economic policy. As I earlier stated, even with no immigration the population will not be stagnant and will continue to grow.

The idiot who said that, also said this...

Again you need to stop talking about yourself Luis because your posts remind me of reading the economic theories of Peter Pan.

".... his latest amnesty-cum open borders scheme. ..."

How can you expect to defeat something when you can't even truely state what it is ?

Lies and distortions are the Demorats stock in trade - we have learned to see through them and dispise those who use them.

If you don't like Bush's guest worker program, explain what it will do and what it is you don't like about it and maybe you will get people to listen.

OH!

It's all them Messicans who are making the dirt low wages, and causing the American's wages to go down who are out eating every night, and staying at the Hilton!

If it wasn't for illegal immigrants, Walt would have never built Disney World in Orlando, and we wouldn't need all those rooms and all those tables!

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!

Economic Gilligan...perfect nick for you.

Going back about 30 posts or so I can't find where you give any specific examples of this - perhaps you can lead me to them ?

BTW - I'm a grandchild of two immigrants, a great grandchild of an immigrant, and a great-great-great grandchild of an immigrant - do I get to stay ?

You're at fault for all those restaurants and hotels littering the landscape.

Luis, as to be expected you're getting emotional and totally ignoring the facts of how market forces work.

Yes, if not for illegal immigrants from Mexico there'd be no Disney World and everything would come crashing down. That is exactly the place where you're living as you have no understanding of basic economics.

Umm read my posts to kempo RS. And it has been pointed out by me and others thousand of times on other threads.

I'm a grandchild of two immigrants, a great grandchild of an immigrant, and a great-great-great grandchild of an immigrant - do I get to stay?

Big deal, so am I and support legal immigration in moderation. Illegal immigration is against the law, is killing wages all across the board and displacing Americans in several industries.

That's WHAT you said...yo claimed that restaurants and hotels are built because we have a workforce of illegal aliens t man them, and not because we have a need to supply rooms and meals in the nation.

You haven't talked about the market, illegal aliens have nothing to do with the market, all they are is a workforce FOR an already existing market.

I'm not getting emotional at all, you're talking stupid, and it shows.

FACT: there are 10+ million illegal aliens integrated into our economy--by the way, there is no such thing as an illegal immigrant, you can't both be here illegally and be an immigrant...immigrants are people who come here legally; saying "illegal immigrant" is like saying "legal squatter"--you can take them out, but only if you have bodies ready to replace them with immediately.

Your notion that if restaurants and hotels can't get enough help to operate without illegal immigrants they should shut down actually proves my point.

The economy would be severely hurt.

"Communities with little immigration adjust to the numbers of hotels and motels and restaurants they need. "

So you are saying that the immigrants are staying in the hotels and motels and eating in the restaurants ?

They must be bringing a lot of money with them then to be able to support the local owners of the hotels and motels and restaurants, so they can pay their taxes.

Louis, why are so many Mexican restaurants opening up and being staffed by illegals? Could it have something to do with the fact large numbers of Mexicans, both legal and illegal are entering the country?

For the third time Luis, you have no basic understanding of economics. Get out of Never Never Land. The days of getting all teary-eyed over that Statue of Liberty poem are long gone.

Would you pick tomatoes for a living?

Here we go with that again. Make up your mind, are illegals picking vegetables or working at Disney World?

For your information Luis, Upstate NY is loaded with all kinds of farms but has few illegals. Someone is doing the work, who could it be Luis, huummm, maybe the natives?
