Heard this on the t.v. news while on the net. So I don't have a link, source or tv station (Sorry Mr. Mod)
So homeschoolers should have no freedom to join together and share their talents? Gee!
Nearly every state requires testing of some sort yearly so the kids who are loafing with their moms don't get that luxury for very long. That's basically the same as repeating the mantra that homosexuals are a majority. Not!
Almost every homeschool graduate I know has received a scholarship to college.
I edited it for clarity.
In most cases the "product" is a badly-educated person, without social skills... Not in all cases, but in the majority...
A lie, I know many, they are ALL smarter and more well adjusted that those indoctrinated in government "schools". AND their parents didn't murder them in the uterus, like you murdered your "clump".
It doesn't say that all schools are "ideal", they aren't... But the fact that parents aren't qualified to teach their children is a fact, especially in specialized courses...
Ignorance of how a "home school", really an alternate school, operates is no excuse for giving false information in order to advance your DU agenda.

So you think that unless a parent has graduated from college with a teaching degree that they are not qualified to teach their own child?
The schools don't even have a certified teacher for every classroom. Ever heard of a teacher's manual?
And I have seen enough home-school successes to say you are incorrect. I will agree, not every parent can teach...But most of my college instructors (including PhDs) couldn't teach either.
your misinformation about home-schoolers is staggering...
The Capt.

That explains much.
But the correct wording is:
As a leftist college professor and admitted perpetrator of infanticide........
"What exactly was their reasoning for suspending her for doing a cartwheel?"
(sarcastic gasp) Their reason was, endangering herself and others. I guess today kids are suppose go out for recess and sit there like lumps of blubber. Too weird
You hit the nail on the head. I tried for a position teaching computers at a local tech-college and was turned down. I didn't have the correct "certification". The fact that I make a living using my skills didn't count. Their comments were..."You may know about computers but that doesn't mean that you have the ability to teach". Well, computer training is exactly what I do. People actually pay me to do one-on-one training. I don't need a piece of paper to determine that I'm qualified.
Educators are the most snobbish bunch of people that I've ever met.
Check out this story. There is a quote from a school psychologist who claims the opposite:
http://hslda.org/docs/link.asp?URL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ewhsv%2Ecom%2Fnews%2Fheadlines%2F1177556%2Ehtml
Reference this claim, please. Then list "other skills" that schools teach, and while you're at it, make sure to include bullying, rebellion, swearing, sexual activity, introduction to drugs...
In most cases the "product" is a badly-educated person, without social skills... Not in all cases, but in the majority...
Again, back up the statement with some references. There are so many things available to homeschool kids regarding socialization (oh and yeah, the public school kind is SO missed, as listed above) that your claim is absolutely laughable on its face.
It doesn't say that all schools are "ideal", they aren't... But the fact that parents aren't qualified to teach their children is a fact, especially in specialized courses...
The average parent does just fine well into high school - we're not talking rocket science.
But if and when we are, there are tons of options available to the parent, such as certified correspondence courses via internet or DVD programs with realtime support contacts, and homeschool courses outside the home - in my area there's a part-time school specificially for homeschoolers to suppliment their time at home with certified instructors covering a variety of subjects.
And no doubt you'll have a real hard time with this one, but usually by high school, homeschoolers actually have advanced to the point where they are ready for - GASP - college courses! Yes really! And get this - many colleges these days actually WELCOME homeschooled kids to take advanced math courses, science courses, labs and other college prep or college level courses.
Again, back up your claims, please. And while you're at it, check out this statistical study. And here's another one for you too.
Pitiricus,
Let's get specific -you are generalizing...
Which subjects do you base your opinion on?
Tell it to the parents at Columbine High.
Perhaps you could back your beliefs with some data.
Name a few...
I would take my chances on teaching my kids myself if they were young enough. The only real regret I have about raising my boys (ages 29 and 27 now) is that I did not send them to Catholic School and left them to the devices of public school. Taught them all about left wing wacko ideas and da$* little about reading, writing and mathematics.
Forget it. Pit is just parrotting back what he/she has heard from the TV
Bingo. Hasn't specified a single thing in many posts.
I am "not qualified" to teach courses on the law to criminology students in college.
Go figure.
