Commenting directly to Mr. Head on his selection for this award, Tom Delay, the Majority Leader, wrote,
"As a respected business leader in Idaho and a key member of our Business Advisory Council, it is my pleasure to announce your selection as a 2004 Ronald Reagan Republican Gold Medal winner. As a Ronald Regean Gold Medal Winner, you distinguished yourself as a business leader who contributed to the economic health of your community. Your support of President Bushs tax cuts has the economy growing at record paces. Your willingness to share your insight and expertise, with the Republican leadership gave us the edge we needed to forge a true working partnership between business and government. This truly is our most prestigious award and one you richly deserve."Commenting on his selection for the award, Mr. Head himself indicated,
"This is not an award I either sought or expected, but it is one I accept with humility and honor. Ronald Reagan was, in my view and simply stated, the greatest American President of the 20th century, and one of the three greatest American presidents in history. Any honor or award presented to me in his memory and in memory of the ideals he exemplified is accepted with sincere gratitude, humility, and honor."
Mr. Head has worked as an engineer and manager for the last 26 years in the aircraft, power, and computer industries. He has operated his own consulting business in Southwest Idaho since 1999.
Mr. Head, who now works for the Federal Government helping secure regional infrastructure, has been involved in a number of civic activities over the last several years. In 2003, Mr. Head accepted a National Republican Committee Leadership Award based on his selection and work as an Honorary State Chairman to the Republican Bussiness Advisory Committee. In 2001, Mr. Head was selected as the 2001 Person of the Year for the FreeRepublic online forum, the largest and most influentioal conservative forum and activism site on the web. In the summer of 2001 Mr. Head was very involved in the Klamath Basin Water Crisis, working tirelessly for the farmers in the Klamath Basin of Oregon and California to face down the abject violation of those farmers' rights due to a faulty and political Endangered Species Act decision that year.
Over the last three years, Mr. Head has authored and self-published a best selling military techno-thriller series of novels called The Dragon's Fury Series. That complete series of novels is available in Trade Paperback form at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Powell's, BAMM, and other places online.
Fantastic!! Congratulations!
That's some high-falootin' accolades.
Congratulations Jeff Head.
Absolutely fantastic, a Mass Bump from an exiled Idahoan.
Well done :-)
Congratulations!
Call them up Jeff, ask them how many are "awarded".
NRCC Main Number, (202) 479-7000
Well Jeff (Case of the Big) Head Congratulations!
Congratulations, Jeff!
I am not sure of the difrference or the varying criteria. All I know is that I got a call and then something in the mail informing me of it.
Congratulations!! That is quite an honor!!
Congratulations, Jeff! And thanks for all your hard work on behalf of all of us. You do Freepers proud.
This is my favorite picture of Ronald Reagan. Thanks for posting it.
There are a lot of people, many of them more deserving than I of any such award. They could award 10,000 of them and I would still be honored if the reasons are what was indicated in the letter from Delay.
I was not asked to donate or provide donors associated with this. I have no reason to believe that this is the case short of some hard cold facts. As I said...if I found it was just a money making ploy, I would not accept it.
Congratulations.
Way to go Jeff!
We FReepers are mighty proud of you. And though I do not speak for Klamath Basin farmers, may I thank you as a concerned citizen for your accomplishments there? God bless you.
LOL! You had me going there.
Thank you.
