ABC News: Some Say U.S. No Longer Feels Like Home (gag alert)

Posted on 11/11/2004 6:28:46 AM PST by AuburnJenn

Nov. 10, 2004 -- Leora Dowling and her husband thought returning from deep in "red" America to her native New England would make them feel more comfortable, more like the people around them shared their values. Since the election, she's been contemplating another move. To Italy.

"After the election, my husband and I asked ourselves, 'How could our country be heading backward? How could so many people miss or choose to ignore the obvious failures of the Bush administration?'" the former Florida resident said.

Dowling, a college professor who lives with her husband in Vermont, is not alone in feeling that the wounds cannot be healed, or at least that Bush is not the man to do it.

For Dowling, as for others who ABCNews.com spoke with, though the immediate anger may be focused on the president — whether because of the war in Iraq, his stance on same-sex weddings, what they say is his blurring of the line between church and state, or his championing of the Patriot Act — there is a broader concern. They say they feel the United States is changing in ways they do not like, and they feel powerless to stop it.

I feel the same way, to be quite honest about it, although from a very different perspective.

Obviously these malcontents are miserable in the LAND OF THE FREE, HOME OF THE BRAVE, and with the man who'll keep it that way, God willing. So go with our blessings, and
GO, GWB!

Dear MS. Dowling:

So you're 'contemplating' a move to Italy?

Well, I have news for you:

1. Italy's duly elected leader, Silvio Berluscone, supports President Bush.

2. Italy has sent military forces to aid us in Iraq.

3. Italians don't want 'gay marriage' shoved down their throats, either: Italians Oppose Marriage, Adoption for Gays

Consider France.

Sincerely wishing you a very pleasant exile,
shhrubbery!

Don't expect liberals to behave like adults, or even patriotic Americans, it isn't in them. We do have two nations, one that assumes that the rejection of gay marriage equals moving "backwards".

Then you have a nation of people who do not believe that, anything goes uberliberalism, has proven to be a better idea with better results for a healthy society as a whole than old fashioned morality has proven to be.

The liberals have had 40 years to turn America into a petri dish of confusion, teen pregnacy, abortion on demand, drug addicts, gay pride parades, porn, metro sexualism, welfare, a national debt that is in the trillions of dollars, now they have crossed a line most will not follow, debasing an institution created by God, by standing in Gods face and calling Him a liar by denying they are sinning in His eyes.

So it has finally come down to offend liberals, or offend God. At this time, the majority have decided for the scantity of marriage. We all sin and offend God, most of us are smart enough, or humble enough, not to be proud of it or deny it, or call God a liar by saying we sin not in His eyes.

We have two nations, one secular and one religious. Hopefully, liberals will find a home where they are comfortable, someplace. After all they should eat, drink, and be merry for this is all they will ever have, and no Christian wants to impose on anyones rights. But we have the right, and the obligation, to say no thank you, to some destructive agendas. If liberals find that too hard to bear then they should find a new place where they feel at home.

I know exactly how they feel. It's the way I felt when jimmuh was president and I was getting that way when Bubba soiled the WH.

"... except their perception."

You nailed it. A former liberal friend sez that libs think everyone thinks the way they do. They know better now for the first time in decades.

The answer to "Dude, where's my country?" is that it never was except in their own minds.

I think the country would be much better off if we could get about half of the liberal professors like this to leave our country. Don't discourage them. Tell them that their world IS coming to an end. That they ought to just get it over with and go. Repudiate their citizenship as they do, just to really make their point.

Far from this being a "gag alert", I consider this a humor piece, and it simply enhances my schadenfreude.

Thanks for the post.

I can guarantee for probably 100% certainty that if GWB had lost the election, MSM would be printing NO stories of how sad we'd feel, how alienated we'd feel, how bad we'd feel about our country having been taken over by the liberal/leftist weanies...but we'll be reading for the next four years of how sad, demoralized these leftists are with their man/party having lost (or had stolen from them again) the election of 2004.

This isn't and never was the home of those planning for a One World Government. The real USA citizens are the main ones standing in the way of this "Star Trek" mentality. I say, beam them up Scotty......to the dark side of the moon.

One of the more pathetic things I've seen so far are those lefties who think their vote didn't count because they lost.

One of the more pathetic things is that many of these lefties who whine all day, and get the media to interview them, crying about how their VOTE DIDN'T COUNT, don't bother to mention that THEY DIDN'T VOTE.

I'm happy they don't feel at home in my country. Means somebody's doing something right for once.

These people can't imagine how elated I am to discover they also feel helpless. That way they can no longer hurt me.

Wonder if they'd take a $50 contribution to catch a bus North?!
