Just in case anyone here doesn't know, the Surgeon General has determined that smoking is dangerous to your health.

"Dan Rather...? Dan Rather...? Golly...that name rings a bell. Didn't he used to be a reporter or something like that?"

No...

He was an unconvincing Communist Broadcasting System propaganda reader.

Not a reporter by a long shot.

RE: "Comments?"

Well, I for one knew that 'ol Lan wouldn't get snookered in by Blather's acting job. Unlike some easliy impressed folks on this thread who seem to have been.

Sheeesh.... PT Barnum sure had their number...huh?

It would take about 1,000 such reports for me to change my opinion of Rather.

Thanks for the post and ping. Hadn't seen this until now.

A few good words from Dan won't come close to making up for the rest of the MSM who are belittling the victory in Fallujah, and who are openly rooting for our enemies.

Would have been cool if the close-up showed a dollar sign on the cigarette.

Dan Rather in my mind and heart isn't good enough to even discuss this Marine. He and his ilk at the other stations fueled the fire when they bashed and baashed and bashed our President.
God bless this Marine and Happy Birthday Marines. May all our American soldiers come home one day soon. In the meantime their Commander-in-Chief is doing all he can to make that happen.

It's a good picture, but Rather made a bit much out of it.

He was probably staring at a rock after a tough battle...

Not to diminish the guy in the photo, but I have a feeling he is exhausted and sorta hypnotized by some stationary object while he smokes his cig. I dont blame him.

"This soldier should get Man of The Year award!!"

I hate to be crass, but being a white, heterosexual American male, it's what I do.

Every time I see this picture I think: this guy is going to have no problem acquiring good fortune (otherwise known as "getting lucky") when he comes home.

"No wonder the Swift Boat Vets went after Kerry. Kerry was saying HE was This Soldier."

Good point...by the way, see that little bit of blood above the eye? That, according to sKerry's record, merits a Purple Heart.

"Is the soldier looking out in a manner reminiscent of Gengis Khan... like his favorite ex candidate said?"

Actually skerry said "jengis khan."
