Almighty God,

How blessed we are to be able to come before You to offer up our humble praise and to lay our petitions at Your feet! How wonderful it is to serve a living God who has known us from our mothers' wombs and who cares enough for us to send His only begotten Son to die for our sins. How privileged we are to be able to serve You with the talents that You have bestowed upon us. We are grateful that last week in the election mercy and truth met together and You spared our beloved country. Lord, now we ask You to embolden us to stand up for Your righteousness. Let us no longer sit idly by while Your enemies try to take Your name from public places or while there are killing fields called abortion clinics or while some seek acceptance and approval of abominations. Let Your Holy Spirit move across the face of our land, touching hearts that have grown cold to Your majesty and renewing those whose zeal has waivered.

Father, we thank You for returning Your servant, George W. Bush, to the White House for another term. Comfort him in these difficult days for a Commander-in-Chief. Pour out Your wisdom upon him and strengthen him for the coming political battles. The enemy still wishes to bring him down politically; thwart their efforts and turn their darts back upon them. Watch over all the First Family and keep them safe from harm; the bitterness and hatred of the enemy is strong.

Lord, we place into Your safekeeping all those who serve in our armed forces, especially those engaged in fierce battle against the devious foes of liberty in Iraq and Afghanistan. Heal those who have suffered injuries of body or spirit; and console the families whose heroes have given their lives in defense of freedom. Lord, as we honor our veterans on Thursday, we honor You, their Protector and Defender; and we thank You for their lives and their service. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Lord, with Yasser Arafat exiting the scene, it becomes even more clear that we are in the beginnings of a season of great change, that major opportunities have been given to the Middle East for historic advances. In the midst of terrible birth pangs, it is possible that truth and compassion can prevail and democracy can come to that backward region. It is possible that human dignity could gain a foothold, and great darkness be rolled back. It is possible that the light of Your salvation could go forth unto the saving of much life.

You delivered this nation from grave danger only last week, giving us a man after Your own heart. Yours is the angel that visits troubled waters to bring healing. You delivered us for a purpose, and as You delivered us, so too can You deliver the Middle East through us. This we pray.

Our road is not destined to be easy, even in victory. Nor will it be free of cost. Nonetheless we do not shrink from it. We ask You to comfort the wounded in Zion. And let us be the arms You wrap around the hurting.

Bring Your Body together in unity, Lord, that we might be healed, that You would be glorified. We intercede for the president and all around him, for our troops, for the hostages, and for Your persecuted throughout the earth.

amen kayak and amen all.
Grace to all!

Ps 36:1 To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD An oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked: There is no fear of God before his eyes.
2 For he flatters himself in his own eyes, When he finds out his iniquity and when he hates.
3 The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; He has ceased to be wise and to do good.
4 He devises wickedness on his bed; He sets himself in a way that is not good; He does not abhor evil.
5 Your mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
6 Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgments are a great deep; O LORD, You preserve man and beast.
7 How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.
8 They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.
9 For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.
10 Oh, continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You, And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
11 Let not the foot of pride come against me, And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
12 There the workers of iniquity have fallen; They have been cast down and are not able to rise.
(NKJV)

Ro 3:9 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin.
10 As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one;
11 There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God.
12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one."
13 "Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit"; "The poison of asps is under their lips";
14 "Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness."
15 "Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways;
17 And the way of peace they have not known."
18 "There is no fear of God before their eyes."
19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
(NKJV)

"The eternal God is thy refuge."
- Deuteronomy 33:27

The word refuge may be translated "mansion," or "abiding- place," which
gives the thought that God is our abode, our home. There is a fulness and
sweetness in the metaphor, for dear to our hearts is our home, although it
be the humblest cottage, or the scantiest garret; and dearer far is our
blessed God, in whom we live, and move, and have our being. It is at home
that we feel safe: we shut the world out and dwell in quiet security. So
when we are with our God we "fear no evil." He is our shelter and retreat,
our abiding refuge. At home, we take our rest; it is there we find repose
after the fatigue and toil of the day. And so our hearts find rest in God,
when, wearied with life's conflict, we turn to him, and our soul dwells at
ease. At home, also, we let our hearts loose; we are not afraid of being
misunderstood, nor of our words being misconstrued. So when we are with
God we can commune freely with him, laying open all our hidden desires;
for if the "secret of the Lord is with them that fear him," the secrets of
them that fear him ought to be, and must be, with their Lord. Home, too,
is the place of our truest and purest happiness: and it is in God that our
hearts find their deepest delight. We have joy in him which far surpasses
all other joy. It is also for home that we work and labour. The thought of
it gives strength to bear the daily burden, and quickens the fingers to
perform the task; and in this sense we may also say that God is our home.
Love to him strengthens us.
We think of him in the person of his dear Son; and a glimpse of the
suffering face of the Redeemer constrains us to labour in his cause.
We feel that we must work, for we have brethren yet to be saved, and we
have our Father's heart to make glad by bringing home his wandering sons;
we would fill with holy mirth the sacred family among whom we dwell.
Happy are those who have thus the God of Jacob for their refuge!

C.H. SPURGEON
