MILWAUKEE - A radio station pulled a conservative talk radio show from the airwaves Nov. 8 as members of the city's Latino community continued to protest its host and his use of an ethnic slur.
WISN Radio's parent company, Clear Channel Communications Inc., said Mark Belling's program would return but did not say when.

Opportunity knocks for Rightalk....
That's why a guy like Belling will always be second-tier. Rush Limbaugh would never use that term.
I hate when people do these boycott threats. Whether its liberals or conversatives. The guy made an honest mistake and I'm sure is very sorry for it. Why can't people just leave it alone.
Using the term "wetback" would get almost anyone dismissed. It is offensive and stupid to use.
Yeah sink, he gave the pc crowd the ammo, didn't he?
I have heard him do exactly that, although many years ago
The name originated from the illegals crossing the Rio Grande to slip in...thus wetbacks..one could call them unauthorized swimmers.
Illegal immigrants works for me.
WETBACK is the term used by LEGAL Mexican immigrants to describe the ILLEGAL border crossers.
For the lesser-educated leftists-in-hiding here, WetBack refers to their getting wet by swimming across the Rio Grande (Big River) which lines a portion of the border between Texas and Mexico (a foreign country).
a LEGAL Mexican Immigrant will take that as an extreme insult if you call him a "wetback". They know the meaning of HONOR.
I think it is sometimes very easy to say something offensive. IF the comment is a one time deal, it really only shows that someone opened his mouth without engaging his brain.
I am a student teacher. The teacher I am working under is black, as are about half of the students. One day, the teacher gave me a number of different things to do (most days I do practically nothing). A "specials" teacher had come into the class to make corn husk dolls with the children and kept after me to get involved. I kept telling him that I would make a doll after I had finished these other things.
I ALMOST had commented to him that the teacher was "a real slavedriver!" I am relieved that I didn't actually say it and would have been horrified had it come out of my mouth! I can't even remember the last time I even used that term! But it's there, in the back of my head, and I did almost say it.
Idiotic thing to say. Conservatives need to hold themselves to a higher standard than the Frankens, Dowds and Mahers of the world.
Years ago they had a guy in San Francisco on KSFO that did something similar. It was when they first went to their Hot Talk format and the guy either said we should kill wetbacks or implied it. Called them wetbacks anyway and said they should be rounded up and killed something like that.
They fired his butt before the end of the day, the way I remember it.
......it's already beginning....
Wow, is that deja vu. Same thing happened to a radio host in ABQ a few years ago. For everyone here jumping on this host for being stupid... do you know the context?
The radio host in ABQ was repeating what a hispanic caller said, and the caller was using the term "wetback" to describe the mexican illegals.
Didn't matter, they fired the host.
I know what a wetback is, and likely knew long before you did, since I live in Texas.
"Wetback" is a derogatory term, no matter who uses it. That's why Belling is off the air.
I still haven't been able to get the transcript of that quote...thanks for the ping!
Listening to Belling fill in for Rush was UNDERwhelming.
I've personally have never used the term wetback. A lot of Texans do but most of the ones I have heard say "wetback" have been hispanic Texas natives that use it to slam the Mexicans or "joke" about them or with them.
We used to have to wait till 6 to hear the delayed playback from WGN Chicago.
Hanity is in drive time in Milwaukee . . .Woohoo !
I don't know anything about the protesters, but as a proud conservative let me say THANK YOU !
