Interesting idea on WMAL in DC today. Proposing Lieberman as Ashcroft's replacement. THe argument was that Bush could "reach across party lines" by appointing a conservative democrat (who is a pretty decent guy, if you exclude the brain fart as Gore's running mate) AND that would open a Senate seat in a state with a Republican governor.
No way Biden deserves anything but a swift kick.
It depends on his stand on protecting our borders. Our biggest threat comes from the illegal aliens and from many of the immigrants from select countries. Of the Democratic presidential candidates he was the only one who made sense.
"This would be a total disaster"
Nothing against the good senator but the Justice Dept. has to get a handle on voter fraud over the next four years.
I can't envision a Dem senator doing that.
Why Loserman? Why stop there? Why not just re-appoint every Clintonista back into their old jobs? Even THEN, it wouldn't be good enough for The Left because Bush would still be alive.
We own the WH; we own the House; we own the Senate. None of that matters, because The Left owns the courts. And it's time we put that to rights, too.
They'd do the same to us, given the chance.
Biden has already risen above his level of competency.
President Bush can "reach across party lines" for another position. I can't imagine Lieberman or any partisan democrat having the fortitude to see through the indictments of say, Sandy Berger, and whoever was involved in the document heist.
Nor do I see him proceeding with any prosecutions that might result from the Hillary Clinton fundraising investigation.
I do not like the idea of him at the helm as the Fitzgerald grand juries are conducted.
No, it is not a good idea.
Don't be fooled by Lieberman. He is a liberal.
Press? Shut up? Delusional thinking... ;)
Heavens to Mergatroid!
I think of this guy:
Well, Attorney General does not fall in the "useless posts" category. This idea will not come to be, thank God.
I wouldn't consider a senator with a 19 lifetime American Conservative Union rating very "good."
Good idea, but he'd never do it.
I can dream can't i ;)
anyway i just think it would be a good way to get another Senate seat
I don't think Jodi Rell (gov of CT) could be pressed into appointing a republican senator. CT certainly won't elect one.
sorry did not mean to imply AG was useless, bad phrasing on my part and i apologize - i meant other posts ie ambassadorships - UN janitor - there are tons of posts we can find for some of these guys and maybe grab a few other senate seats.
Biden for AG? Get real, McCain!
(McCain would be fun to laugh at, if he wasn't occasionally dangerous.)
I agree. A Connecticut Republican would probably do little good in the Senate anyway.
Neither Lieberman or Biden would give up secure Senate seats to become AG. Anyway, I don't think Bush would use that position to cross party lines. It's too important. He might name a Democrat to Commerce. That would make more sense.
