President Bush yesterday moved aggressively to resurrect his plan to relax rules against illegal immigration, a move bound to anger conservatives just days after they helped re-elect him.
The president met privately in the Oval Office with Sen. John McCain to discuss jump-starting a stalled White House initiative that would grant legal status to millions of immigrants who broke the law to enter the United States.

You don't get it do you? Bush has promises to keep to his corporate sponsors. Cheap labor is the mantra. Mexico, like many other third world countries is up to it's eyeballs in debt to the World Bank and IMF. The migrants come to this country and send the money back to central America. The money comes back to the US in trade dollars and debt service. The companies (in cahoots with the US govt.) that are STEALING from you have a willing accomplice in Geroge Bush. You don't think George thought this up all by himself do you? Corrupt officials in the third world are bribed into taking on foreign debt (from US banks and the IMF) they know they can't repay. So they pay in human bodies that come here to earn money to pay of the native countrie's debt. All the Bush voters were chumped big time on this one, although to his credit he did tell you he would do it. Perhaps after much prayer he decided it would the 'moral' thing to do. Weren't you listening?
You win the dumb a$$ statement of the day award.
How GD stupid can people possibly get?
LOL.
Yeah, you mean like they are now?
If seen no enforcement provisions. Not one. If you can point me to one, i'd love to read it.
Me too. I sent the self-addresed envelope with the donationless donation slip (so they would know who was doing it) back to them with a recent photocopied article on this subject.
I voted for Bush and Republicans but my 'giving' has gone waaaaayyyyy down. Luckily, my Congressman (Virgil Goode, (R) Virginia) is aligned with Tancredo on this subject.
I would not have as big a problem with this whole plan if some of the following were being discussed:
1. National Guard on the Border;
2. Strict fines against employers of illegals
3. Deportation of illegals convicted of any crime.
4. No amensty unless the person has at least two American citizen sponsors who sign financial support affidavits.
Hold it Eric, "chronic_loser" said that, not Joe. Go back and reread his post, he was quoting CL.
I've had enough of you criminal pandering freaks. Bunch of damn zombies feeling sorry for those that spit in your face and defecate on your own laws. I have no time for you morons anymore. Nothing but sh*t load of frauds, leftist in conservative clothing. Sheesh......
Look up election returns for Republicans voting for open borders types.
In the late 70's in Texas I was a bricklayer making 10/hr. Then the illegal flood came and no one would hire a 10/br bricklayer then Juan would do the job for 5/hr. These day the entire (light) construction industry in Texas is Mexican. Americans need not apply. Spanish is becomming the predominate language, we are losing (giving away) the Southwest.
Randy Graf beat Kolbe in Cochise County but lost the whole thing in Pima County. Pima County went for John Kerry, by the way, and routinely elects liberal representatives - to include liberal Republicans (Huffman, Hellon, Hershberger, etc.)
Kolbe also outspent Graf by over 10 to 1 and lied his ass off throughtout the campaign. Kolbe broke campaign laws and pulled all kinds of desperate crap to win.
1 in 5 emergency rooms in the state of California have already closed... What advisors would be suggesting to increase illegal immigration by granting amnetsy to those already here. This doesn't seem very conservative (or smart)
"How GD stupid can people possibly get?"
Scary isn't it!!!!
You guys raised a whole $50,000 for Graf's campaign. Whoopee!
You aren't serious men and women.
"These day the entire (light) construction industry in Texas is Mexican. Americans need not apply. Spanish is becomming the predominate language, we are losing (giving away) the Southwest."
EXACTLY the same in all of California!
>>>>It is unAmerican to let invaders from any country or any race or any whatever to stream into our country unchecked,
I never argued against controlling our borders, but against the stupid "we need the labor but we are going to pretend we don't" immigration laws that ENCOURAGE illegals.
>>> steal jobs and reduce wages,
stupid irrational argumentation worthy of a shrine at the Democratic Underground
>>>>over populate our cities,
ditto
>>> tax our welfare systems,
our welfare system is a socialistic nightmare. If I put out a flashing neon sign that says "free money here" and then bitch about the fact that every low life in town comes to take it, who is to blame, me, or the lowlifes?
>>>> close down our trauma centers and hospitals,
statutes stating that the hospitals is not obligated to acdept any non life threatening injury or illness will fix most of that. Yazoo City MS (home of Haley Barbour) jsut pased that local ordinance. They have very few hispanics, but the "other" minority had done what hispanics do, learned that the ER was the clinic for all your medical ills if you had no money. It was busting the system. Under your proposal, I suppose they should just demand that blacks move out of Yazoo City? No. You get some people with balls who say (in statutes) "Compassion does not equal stupidity. Screw you and your trial lawyers. This is America, and here, we PAY our way..... so do you."
>>>raise our crime rates,
which ethnic groups you talking about here? Is it just hispanics, or blacks, too. Black crime rate is MUCH higher than latino. As a matter of fact, if you REMOVED the black population from the USA, our crime rate would be lower than that of Japan.
How about Irish crime in 1800s when they were new immigrants? Italians? Jews?
trash our deserts and neighborhoods as they cross through leaving their garbage and feces behind them. >>
Feces decompose, but I have seen REVERSE trashing here in NC. We are the second fastest growing latino state in the Union. Some smaller communities are "overrun" with latinos and the social stresses are the same as the Southwest, but on a smaller scale. However, the overall effect is good. Neighborhoods which were run down, crime gardens, unpainted, dilapidated, drug dens, are now clean, painted (maybe painted purple, green and orange sometimes, but painted), flower boxes, and the sense of NEIGHBORHOODS returning. We have crime, but the overall effect is neutral to slightly positive.
I also lived for several years in a border state (Texas) so I have a bit of experience there, as well.
No one argues that the influx of Mexicans is not a problem, and no one argues that the problems are exacerbated by our stupid welfare systems.
The solution is NOT to close the borders and expel everyone who got here illegally. That response is advocated by many of the cranially vacant halfwits who call themselves "conservatives" who are really just statists.
It may surprise you to know that I would actually have voted for prop 200. Hell, I don't even believe in governemnt benefits for AMERICANS which are not earned, must less aliens. I too believe in AMERICA FIRST. I just believe in an America that welcomes immigrants. Anyone who can prove he is not a criminal and is willing to assimilate and work should be welcome.
I stand by my accusation that many freepers are just xenophobes. Again, they bitch about these people being ILLEGAL, but if the chance is given them to become legal, these are the same people who are first in line to raise hell about that. It is disgusting and, again UNAMERICAN.
That's my story and I am sticking to it.
"the conservative movement"
I didn't realize you were the spokesperson for the conservative movement :) And seriously, do you really want Bush to give the latino votes back? And mine too, for that matter? What about others like me? If you really want to belong to a party that doesn't need votes, vote libertarian. I voted for Bush taxes, the space program, terrorism and because he's a genuine, good person. I'm not even religious, but I love Bush's religious conviction because its honest and non-threatening to agnostics like me. I don't know what his plan is to beef up our borders - there probably is no new plan. Why not put one forward? Write your congressman and say "I have a plan" or ask them to "please put forward a plan". If its good, I'll support it. And regarding being called a "coward": Sean Hannity was right when he said the Freepers "eat their own."
