Perhaps for the same reason we normally don't like to have names of street gangs published or too much publicity around gang crime. It emboldens the criminals, who desire the acclaim and notoriety, why help them be famous? Maybe they think it will increase their virgin allotment if they get their mugs on the news.

I have to guess that the terrorists in many cases have agreed to work with the network to spread anti-Bush propaganda.
My guess is that the trade-off for close-up shots isthey have to protect the terrorists identities.

"I was probably the only person watching Keith Olberman on MSNBC and his "Countdown" Show tonight- I must ask- why whenever they show pictures of insurgents with AK-47's or RPG's their faces are blurred- like they are in the witness protection program???Could it be because it's Olbermann OR Lawrence O'Donnell's face being blurred?
