The "Why I voted for Bush and why I am not stupid thread."

Posted on 11/06/2004 8:00:26 PM PST by groanup

I have homosexual friends.

My kids have homosexual teachers.

On my street are many homosexual couples with children.

I am a lifelong Southerner.

I own guns.

I like country music, opera and Bruce Hornsby and the Range.

I love dry red wine. I also love beer. I also love single malt scotch.

I have a college degree from a very liberal urban school.

I prefer veal to hamburger, pork tenderloin to hot dogs.

I love the Waffle House.

I can do the New York Times crossword puzzle in fifteen minutes.

I understand derivatives.

I trade futures.

I am one of those stupid, ignorant Southerners who voted for Bush.

I too have a college degree, as does my husband.
Our two sons are both attending college now.
And one thing we all hate is for a bunch of arrogant Hollywood types, with ninth grade educations, thinking they have the right to tell us who to vote for.

I am a Yuppie Trash Man (I own a Residential a Industrial Solid Waste Management Company), My wife is a homemaker, a stay at home mom for 3 young children, a small-town girl with traditional values. She will study Nursing when our kids are old enough, she will become an RN. We are neither stupid, nor rednecks. We both voted for Dubya.

This sounds so cliche but, I had a friend who was gay. My boss was also gay, and he was one of his friends. At first he truly annoyed me, but eventually we became fast friends. Whenever he would come into the office, he would make a bee line for my desk and make me laugh for ten minutes.

I have no problem with homosexuals, it's the millitant ones that anger me.

I've got two college degrees and am in favor of abortion, gay rights, and the teaching of evolution and evolution only in public schools. But I could not vote for John Kerry, especially after the debates. I do not trust people who do not have the backbone to state who they are and what they believe and devil-take-the-hindmost. The clincher for me was Kerry's use of Mary Cheney in the third debate. It was uncalled for and totally unnecessary and was clearly a crass attempt to gain political advantage.

And then there was the ketchup woman. I really did not want to see Teresa Heinz Kerry in the white house as first lady. Not, not, not.

All very good except for the crossword puzzle.

Try the FT puzzle. Now you can do entirely without the Slimes.

That really is what's overlooked about the Hollywood liberals. Very few of them received much in the way of education.

Anyone else surprised at this?

You are an ex-homosexual? So you are what now? Bi-sexual?

Asexual, actually. Not looking for a sexual relationship anywhere, though a romance with a good woman would be nice.

OK, OK... I'm convinced.

We're not a bunch of knucke-dragging, buck-toothed rednecks like they think we are. So what? We knew that already. What difference does it make WHAT they think?! WE WON.

I'm an attorney.

I scored above the 99th percentile on the LSAT.

I was an editor of the law review at a top law school.

I'm (based on a recent sale) a published author.

I graduated from the Defense Language Institute's Japanese language program number one in my class.

I'm married with three daughters.

I'm an avid reader, movie buff and sports fan.

I like rock and play the drums.

I'm a Christian.

I voted for Bush.

I'm also a little confused. I thought we Republicans were filthy rich and heartless. Now I'm told we're all dumb hicks praying for the second coming of Cotton Mather. Which is it?

I am an veteran of the Cold War.
I spent eight of the best years of my life on active duty.
It took six years of a Republican President to take the awful taste of two years under Carter out of my mouth.
I would never vote for an obvious, proven traitor while US armed forces are engaged in conflict.
President Bush does what he says he will do.
I may not agree with everything he wants to do, but I know exactly what he intends.
Despite the unrelenting shrill media claims of LIAR, this is actually the closest we will have come to an honest man in the Presidency in over a decade.
I not only voted for him, twice, I refuse to let the chattering minority with microphones freely get away with noxious socialist propaganda.
Obviously, I am not alone.

I voted for George W. Bush because he is a man of integrity and strength who is not afraid to stand up for what he believes--even if it may be unpopular with some people. I have five college degrees, including a Ph.D. in math, and last time I checked they weren't just giving those to everybody who came by and asked for one. I AM from the South though, so I guess that fits the liberal's "classic" definition of stupid.
