Alan Keyes Doesn't Do What Most Republicans Did

Alan Keyes continues to be a man of principle. He's done something very few Republicans have had the courage to do. Here's his first interview.

Let's cut toupsie some flack. He's from a state that went to Kerry. Someday he'll come round - for the kids I hope.

To say he "utterly failed" shows alot of disrespect for the 1,371,882 votes he receive. To have 1.3 MILLION people stand with you on the side against evil and FOR righteousness, is no failure.

Exactly.

Topsie, you said "I would have voted for Obama over him." You would vote for someone who voted FOR the killing of LIVE babies? You would pick personality style rather than content of the person's beliefs as to what determines your voter? You support the Obaminations of evil?

Did you vote for the baby-butcher Obama or the GOP candidate?

Most Republicans don't stand on genuinely Republican ideals.

I answered my own question...
In 1998 these were the results for the US Senate seat in IL.

Carol Moseley-Braun* Dem 1,575,900 47 %
Peter Fitzgerald GOP 1,697,310 51 %
Don Torgersen RP 74,071 2 %

This suggests that Keyes was part of the pull-down.
I'm sad to report this.

Powerless to do anything about it unless you WIN. As I said, right message, wrong messenger. There are plenty of pro-life candidates who can win. Keyes is a flawed candidate.

You said Keyes is "the wrong messenger." Who IS supposed to speak on behalf of people being murdered? Is it wrong for ANYone to speak truth?

Where did you get the idea that there is a 'right' way to speak truth? Either you speak it, or you don't. Truth is truth, no matter who the messenger is.

I like Keys a lot and think he would be a good leader, However, having said that I don't think he should run for any other office as he seems to go over the edge when he loses.

And two. He never had a prayer in Il so he should have waited until there was another weaker seat he could have taken from a Dem.

I assume you voted for President Bush. Do you agree with him on every single issue?

obsessive quotes on Jesus and abortion

Heh, if you talk about Jesus and abortion even once a month, you've already outdone the annual quota for half of the GOP politicians put together.

Maybe, a little balance here...when's the last time you criticized a GOP candidate for his lack of addressing His Creator or the ones in the womb He creates? Or is it only Jesus and abortion that hits a soft spot w/you?

"Who IS supposed to speak on behalf of people being murdered? Is it wrong for ANYone to speak truth?"

Very well said. Would that many more like Keyes would speak the truth about abortions and the killing of babies.

At least he stood his ground and didn't sell his soul for a Senate seat.

You said "Keyes diminished himself, as well as the GOP...."
Is it diminishing one's self to side for innocent humans who can't protect themselves? Is it diminishing one's self to want honesty and to show the deceit of Obama?

The Dems have diminished themselves by siding in the MILLIONS of killings of babies each year, and in the destruction of families through gay support and gay marriage.

The GOP can be proud and is elevated all the more by people who are willing to stand for what is right and good.

Alan Keyes may be a great speaker but as I said months ago when he was drafted to run in Illinois he is a lousy candidate. Proof of the Illinois Republicans making a colossal mistake was the terrible performance of Keyes where he got his head handed to him by someone of the like of Obama.
Keyes should just get back on the speech making circuit, etc., make some money and do his good work on the talk shows.
The sooner this debacle is forgotten the better. The Illinois Republican Party needs new direction and leadership if they ever hope to be competitive again.

I would have voted for Obama over him.

Hey, why stop there? Why not just say you'd vote for Pol Pot or Benito Mussolini over Keyes?

It's kind of like the joke about the woman who'd sleep with a guy for a million dollars, and then they bring the price way down, and she says, "what kind of a woman do you think I am?"...and of course the punchline..."We've already agreed on that; we're just quibbling about the price."

I think we can agree where your principles (or lack of them) are.

Truth is truth, no matter who the messenger is.

Yes. But speaking the truth in and of itself doesn't win elections. Keyes couldn't get elected municipal dog catcher. By tying a winning issue to an unelectable candidate, one decreases the likelihood of results. I'll not debate theory. We're talking real world. Keyes has NO power to do anything in the pro-life movement as an elected candidate because he cannot win elections. If Keyes wants to do something useful, he should start a pro-life 527, etc. There are far more Karl Roves in the world than George Bushes. The Roves recognize that they can influence the outcome of things but can never win as the man whose name is on the ballot. If Keyes does not recognize this, he becomes marginalized, joining the Naders, Buchanans, Sharptons, et al. on quixotic quests that accomplish nothing.

Joe-the-farmer-from-Kankakee would not have lost by 48 points.

Hey, you might want to check out a football, basketball, or baseball game some time. First some close games; then some lopsided ones.

Look real carefully at the scores. The enlightenment will hit you when you realize you still lose whether it's by 1 point or 43 points.

LOL! Great! Way to cut to the bottom line.

sorry, i not find keye's loss to obama (is that a shortened sideways spelling of osamabinladen)funny. keyes is definitely a man of principles and conservatism. i do agree that keyes learns how to win an election.
