I like Keys a lot and think he would be a good leader, However, having said that I don't think he should run for any other office as he seems to go over the edge when he loses.

And two. He never had a prayer in Il so he should have waited until there was another weaker seat he could have taken from a Dem.

Having said that, he is a terrible politician. Not because he says the things that he says, but THE WAY HE SAYS THEM and THE TIMES HE CHOSES TO DO SO.

That's Monday Morning quarterbacking. Truth is never wrong. Truth does not require a proper methodology in which for it to be truth. Truth is not truth only at certain times and not other times.

It is NOT Alan Keyes' style which fails, but the hearts of those who refuse to open. Truth was and is available.

You said "Which view is now going to have another seat in the Senate, because of the bull-in-a-china-shop efforts of a lousy politician?"

BECAUSE OF?? Thinking just like a Dimocrat, you blame results on personality rather than content. The
"another seat" is BECAUSE 3 million of people in Illinois collectively support murdering babies in the womb and anti-family gay relationships.
1. Obama supports abortion and gay marriage
2. The Democratic party supports those positions.
3. Therefore, the people who voted for Obama voted FOR murdering babies in the womb, and FOR the destruction of gays emotionaly, physically, and spiritually because of the continued support of their refusal to get help and healing through doing things God's way.

A politician who speaks for what is right is NOT "lousy." A politician who lies, manipulates, advances wrong IS "lousy."

You are never going to staunch the flow of blood by adopting the Keyes formula...

So we should speak out against the murders??? That's what he does. We can't go in and bomb the murderers like WWII Germany.

You said " He should have stayed home and let the IL Republicans stew in their own juices."

So cowardly staying out of the fray, out of the fight is correct? We should be unmerciful to our fellow believers in human life and right and wrong, if they live in such a corrupted state? I would hope you other 49 states would come to the rescue of our miserable Califonia, help us, rather than just let the righteous stew in misery.

They and he would be better off today if he had.

The issue is not "He lost. Let it go." The issue is that murder of thousands is supported by the newly elected representative of that state, and we need to protect them by blocking him.

Obama lets those babies go. He lets his state and nation be influenced by his support of evil. I'm not a wussie...I won't just "let it go."

Keyes supports reparations. I would imagine its roots in a Judeo-Christian concept, trying to be generous, fair, just, have equity, those kinds of things, as well as showing a genuine fruit of repentance. Until you repent in your own life, deeeeeeply, you can't see how important that is to someone else. Have you ever wished someone would just apologize, would just truly understood what they had done wrong to you? Imagine the healing not just of an individual, but a nation? Reparations isn't an anti-moral concept. Liberal blacks want it for greed, however, and that's different.

You said "he seems to go over the edge when he loses"

I say no, he's the only one who does what is morally RIGHT:He says it I:
"...I think some folks may have missed, and are still missing, the very deep and serious point that was represented by me and must be represented now in this country. I said during the race that we are engaged in a battle between good and evil. And I think it's time we understood the significance of that phrase, if we take it seriously.

"I was thinking about this the other day. If you know someone who is in the service of causes that are killing innocent babies, in the service of causes that are destroying the basis for family life, and that individual gets a powerful job that will give him greater influence in pursuing that wickedness--if someone then suggested to you that you call and congratulate them on that lucrative and powerful position, would you do it?

"I think we're missing the point. One of the things that we seem to be missing is that if we are serious in our understanding of deep moral issues, then, though we act with civility and according to the rules, which I have certainly done, we do not extend false congratulations to the triumph of what we have declared to be across the line.

"And it is across the line. People can say what they please, they can mouth words of unity if they like, but this country is based upon a union of moral principles. That's what Abraham Lincoln stood for. Those who reject that moral principle are not standing on the same ground. And therefore, the easy--how can I put it?--courtesy that we have taken for granted becomes a courtesy that shows a disrespect for truth.

"Nothing I do is ever motivated by simple personal this's and thats. People should realize by now that when I make a serious decision, it is in order to make a serious point. And I think people need to start to take this to heart, because if we do not, we are going to miss the point of the times that we are in.

"I think what is being done with respect to abortion, the family, has shredded the fabric of American principle. Absent that fabric, there is no ground for unity in this nation. John Kerry can talk about it all he wants--but we must challenge ourselves with the truth that, outside of the common ground of some principle of moral justice, America does not stand on a common ground. And therefore, we have to seriously look at and think through the decisions we are taking in that regard.

"And I find it impossible, in fact, to be intimidated by traditional practice into extending congratulations that, to tell you the honest truth--not anything personal, but just from the simple point of view of the notion. I'm supposed to make a call that represents the congratulations toward the triumph of that which I believe ultimately stands for and will for a culture evil enough to destroy the very soul and heart of my country? I can't do this. And I will not make a false gesture.

"So, I did what I think was quite proper. I talked to my supporters in the context of course of accepting the results, but not of conveying a false impression of how we continue after that result. Because, I think we have to continue to fight on the ground that will eventually and hopefully restore a true basis for the unity of this country."

I believe Alan Keyes did exactly what all Republicans SHOULD have done. If that's going over the edge, it's a great freefall!

You proceed from the incorrect assumption that it was his design to parachute into a race he could win for his own ambition. It never was as the record shows. One would think that the willingness to take up the "Impossible Task" based not on notions of winning but on the basis of principle would get more respect from members of the party which cliams to take principle seriously.

I'm less principled about "carpetbagging" than Keyes - I'd have LOVED to see him run in Arkansas and call Blanch Lincoln to account for her vote on the Gay Marriage Amendment - she'll never be more vulnerable. But he didn't, because contrary to the claims of the Keyes-bashers, it WASN'T about HIM.
