While I was casting my vote here in Kansas City, I looked at my state representative race for the Missouri House...and noticed that only one person was on the ballot and it was a democrat to boot. No Republican was running....and I was ashamed.
After talking with my lovely Mrs. MissouriConservative, I have reached a decision....I am going to run for the 44th district here in Missouri in 2006.
I know there are a few Freepers here in KC and would love to have them help in way they can. I am going to join a lot of local Republican clubs and begin networking. I not only need the physical help, but a lot of prayers and spiritual guidance. We cannot let a democrat run unopposed, no matter how democratic the district may be.
I am currently studying my opponent to be, and she has a lot of weaknesses....voting for medical pot usage, still trying to get Missouri to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, etc.
This district is changing, albeit slowly, and more people are moving to the suburbs and voting is slowly trending towards conservatives.
Whatcha all think?
What do you all think?....I don't know too many other KC area freepers, but I'm hoping you do.
If finances allow in four years, I'll come over and help you!
More power to ya!!
Pinging Congressman Billybob:
Any advice for Missouri Conservative who is contemplating a run at the Mo HofR?
Go for it.
What area does the 44th dist cover?
I need all the help I can get. By the way, my daughter just got home a few months ago from a trip to Australia....she fell in love with it....still talking about it after 5 months....lol
Well...put something down on your bio page about who you are and what your values are. Let us know about yourself, so we can give you sound advice..
Good luck with that!
We need good people in local governments.
sounds great, Im not in anyway near there, but would make a donation to your run for office.
Go for it.
((unless it means a pay cut))

Get in touch with your local Republican organizations, because you'll need their endorsement and help to get anywhere. I'd first contact your county party chair.
Will do that tonight....times been kinda short, but now that the election is over....will give y'all the information about lil ole me.
I lost the race, but managed to garner 31% of the vote. More importantly, I showed other would be candidates that it can be done.
Let me know when you do, and I will at least contribute financially.
Absolutely!
Watch out, though. The incumbent rule applies doubly in state legislature. Turnover is very rare, so you'll have to be a very good, very active candidate.
Don't go all negative, either.
The Republican candidate for my local state House seat made both mistakes, and lost by a 2-to-1 margin.
Otherwise, go for it! Political office-seeking is likely in my future, too, and I'd be glad to help you out any way I can!
I wouldn't worry about the party. When I ran, the party stayed away - wouldn't even give me a dime and didn't want to help in any other manner, because I was running in a heavy democrat district. Still, I pushed on, and ended up with 31% of the vote. No, not a win, but I opened the district up to future cadidates in a district that was previously thought unwinnable, let alone untouchable.
I myself am running for pushup bra inspector.
Paging Jim - I do believe you post on the front page FReepers running for office.
Here's one more...
