Yep, some solid advice. Find out the kind of staff, volunteers and money it takes to run a successful campaign for the office you are seeking. Prepare, NOW, a step by step plan to raise that money and find those people.

Put benchmarks on that plan. And if you don't make the benchmarks, have the courage not to run. Either do it right, or if you can't do that, don't do it at all. It doesn't make sense to waste your time and money, and of others, in a doomed effort. It makes complete sense to run a competent campaign, however.
