No apology necessary. I used to like him, too. Of course, I also used to like Buchanan before he went nuts... ;0)

This state CAN be brought back from the brink of liberal dominance, but it'll take a little work ;0)

This year, absentee ballots are Democrat, which is not surprising considering how similar the signatures are.

Something is seriously wrong here. With 99% reporting, the Republican was up by 1,100 votes. They added an extra percent and now the dem is up 15,000.. It's as if 95% of the last precincts voted dem! I hope Bush can sent a few lawyers out to washington to stop the dems from stealing a governor's seat.

Another Democrat elected by a Libertarian...the RATs' favorite Third Party!

No (L) and it's Rossi easily. I guess it's much better to elect someone who agrees with you 10% of the time to "make a point" to the someone who agrees with you 90% of the time. Sure...now THAT makes sense.

C'mon, go ahead and flame me with all of the philosophical reasons why the people of Washington have to suffer for 4 years so Libertarians can feel morally superior. I'm waiting.

Yeah, I've been here for the entire 24 years since the last Republican Governor won (and even before that). Too much King County out there for Rossi to pull it out. King County overrules the entire state. Rossi will win 36 of 39 counties handily -- and barely lose in two small ones. But the 60% of the vote Gregoire will get in King County overwhelms the rest of the state's votes. It's a bummer. The rest of the state should secede and leave King County on its own.

Why would anyone want a candidate that can't get 35% of the vote anywhere?

I smell fraud in this race. I have CNN screen capture with these results:

Washington Governor
Updated: 2:00 p.m. ET

Republican Rossi
917,207 49%

99% of precincts reporting

Democratic Gregoire
916,143 49%

An extra 1% provided a huge reversal for the democrat.
Impossible.

To recount it must be closer than 2,000 votes!?!?!??!

They can manufactor more than that in a half-hour.

Bingo Scott, you hit it on the head. As an Eastern Washingtonian, the frustration level is unbearable at times....and I as well as many others are for secession. This is not said in jest, people talk openly about it over here.

As for Rossi and G-B*tch, I heard on the radio today that it may take 2 weeks to count all the absentees, and that there would probably be a recount as close as the race is. Hoping Rossi pulls away with the Repub absentee advantage (if it truly exists).

No, it's not fraud. It's Seattle. You know, the place that gives Baghdad Jim McDermott 80% of the vote every time. That's the horrible thing about Washington. They don't NEED to do fraud. The voters here are really that wacko - they're insane eco-nazi-socialists.

Yeah, I know...I've lived in Eastern Washington too -- eight years (Pullman). I like it over there and would rather go back than stay over here.

The precincts had all reported when the numbers looked so good..... but not counted in the precinct count are the absentees. Something like 150,000 absentees to count during this next week, and they might be all over the board.

"it will take someone with "star power" or a political image that isn't "conservative" to replace Maria Can't-Vote-Well.

I wish Steve Largent stayed in Washington for his political career--he'd be the perfect fit for this race. He's sure needed there a lot more than Oklahoma.
