What station did you watch last night for election coverage?

Posted on 11/03/2004 6:36:47 AM PST by AuburnJenn

Yes, this is a vanity, but please don't flame me. I am curious what station you watched last night for election results? And why were there 2 different Fox broadcasts (one with Shephard Smith and the other had Brit Hume)? I was actually not as impressed with Fox as I hoped I'd be, I found their panel fairly dull - CBS was a joke of course, NBC and ABC were actually not all that vomit-inducing as I expected them to be. But Today show sure looked and acted glum this morning! I am just so excited for President Bush

I taped the Solar News Update being streamed via plasma ion
relay from Vargus X-117 in the Orion system. They had the election called for Bush 23 light years ago.

flipped through every channel, didnt watch a single commercial. Dan Rather was suprisingly going out of his way to be fair on CBS I felt. He really grilled Lockhart after the tides were clearly turning for Bush, asking if he really felt that he thought Kerry was going to win, or if it just what he hoped

Fox most of the time, but tuned in occasionally to watch Dan Rather swallow his tongue . . . .

I did some surfing, but that was to try to get some info on local elections. TX redistricting - Sandlin and Frost are gone!!! - as are some others. Primarily, I had it on mute. Mainly - when I did listen (not much) - it was Fox or Fox News. My guess is Fox was for the folks who do not get Fox News.

Fox and MSNBC (to see what the enemy was saying).
I even bounced over the SeeBS a couple times to watch Rather squirm.

Mostly I watched Fox coverage (Fox Broadcast network -- not Fox News Network as I don't have cable). I think the Fox Broadcast Network coverage was probably the same as the Fox Cable News coverage. Shep was the main anchor/reporter for the coverage. I skipped over to NBC mainly for updates on the map as Fox didn't show an electoral map on its layout. While I liked the reporting on Fox, the other networks did a better job of presenting the updates and the electoral map. The Fox screen was more difficult to read and follow most of the night.

CNN was actually fair up until about midnt. FNC was a bit slow for me.

BUT I had about 10 IE browser windows open on mt laptop, looking at Drudge, misc election sites, and of course, Free Republic.

FOX and Hugh Hewitt et al. They were so solid. He had a call-in about 9 pm (PST) -- 'They are very downcast at Kerry Headquarters' -- which was very encouraging.

Free Republic, of course.
With FOX for background noise...

Once I started reading what the live thread had to say about Fox's coverage, I stayed with FR for info and stuck a tape of TVLand misc. (I Love Lucy, Superman, Bob Newhart, etc.) into the VCR for background noise. (It was quite soothing!)

FOX with the exit polling donkey crap rolling out of their mouths.

Sorry people Fox sucked big time last night, they left their brains at home, took them 1/2 the night to recognize they were deceived.

Fox, with a backup of NBC. Strangely enough, I'll miss Tom Brokaw. He managed to retain some impartiality: at least compared to Rather and Jennings.
