The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

Ex-wife of slain University of Richmond professor charged with murder

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The former wife of a University of Richmond professor shot dead outside his home as his three children slept inside was charged Monday with his murder, police said.

A grand jury returned indictments charging Piper A. Rountree, 44, of Houston, with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, a police spokesman said.

Fredric M. Jablin, 52, was found in the driveway of his suburban Richmond home on the morning of Oct. 30. An autopsy determined he died of a gunshot wound to the torso.

The couple’s children, ages 8, 12 and 15, were unharmed.

Israel expects that Arafat will get his plug pulled in a day or two

Israeli officials believe that the decision has been made to disconnect life support Tuesday or Wednesday, ynet reported, citing official sources. They are planning for a funeral in Gaza between Thursday and Saturday. Mahmound Abbas and Ahmed Qurei are heading for Paris to escort the corpse. Security officials are preparing for massive disturbance throughout the territories and in Israel's Arab sector.

ynet reports that a reliable Arab website (it didn't say which) reports that Suha Arafat has been told by doctors that her husband is "already dead" and that there is no longer any point in keeping him alive. Apparently there has been a request by Palestinian officials to keep him hooked up to life support machines for another day or two to allow preparations to take place.

Checking in with a security note. High security level in Times Square this evening. The heavily armed robo cops with machine guns standing guard outside the recruiting station in the heart of Times Square. They weren't there this morning and I haven't seen them there in a couple of months. Whenever they suddenly appear my alert level automatically goes up.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A single-engine airplane that took off from DeKalb-Peachtree Airport crash landed on top of a home a short distance from the runway Monday afternoon.

One person was on-board and did not suffer any injuries, an FAA official said. Two people -– a mother, and a child -- were inside the house and were not injured, either.

“I was inside her house and all of a sudden we hard a loud crash,” said Lucero Espinoza.

The pilot apparently attempted to return to the airport but instead went down, hitting part of the roof of the home at 3006 Villa Esta Drive about 3:30 p.m."

That's a good question. Something is up. Usually there are tourists on that walkway taking pictures. When I walked past at 5:15 there were helmeted cops with machine guns.
