Nice work!
(Who the heck are Maximilian Longley and Walter F. Rucker?)
I worked Monday and Tuesday in Orange Co. I had a great time. I enjoy getting out and meeting everyone on both sides. There was one obnoxious Dem working at my poll. I expect he is whistling a different tune today.
On the negative side:
I'm really disappointed at the turnout in my precinct. I also think the Republican party in NC is failing. We've got to get better and do better. I'm in liberal territory, so maybe my view is skewed. I have not looked at the data, but my impression is that we can thank the unaffiliated voters and crossover Dems for helping us with Bush and Burr. I dont think we won those two on Republican or conservative strength.
jw
Hell yes it's skewed. Out West here in Transylvania County, we had a sixty-eight percent turnout, and the Republicans swept every single office by a large margin. Bush won with 61% of the vote. That other candidate whose name I have already forgotten only got a girly 38%. Badnarik got 1%, and Nader got a grand total of 15 write-in votes.
From president to county supervisor, dog catcher and everything in between the Republicans won by humiliating (to the RATS) margins.
Republican turnout was either (a) atrocious or (b) low because of deliberate understaffing of heavy Republican precincts which caused long lines in the morning, thereby discouraging Republicans or (c)decreased, because of polls showing Bush would easily win.
Were you shocked by the final results? It's hard to believe that Republican turnout could have been so low, and Dem turnout so high.
What brought them out?
What happened when you returned at 2? Was it still crowded?
Why was turnout so low? We really lost big time with the low turnout. Now we can look forward to years of annual whopping tax increases.
That's great! My county being liberal was the opposite. All that does not surprize me. What gets me is what we continue to lose (or fail to win) at the State level. We lost:
Governor
Lt. Governor
Attorney general
Commissioner of insurance
Secretary of state
Superintendent of public instruction
Treasurer
6 of 13 in the US House
34 of 64 in the State House
22 of 37 in the State Senate
and
Amendments I, II and III all passed
On a State level the Dems continue to win.

The election day turnout in my precinct was only ~34.7%.
36% of registered Rs
34% of reg DEMs
27% of reg Ls
and 33% of reg unaffiliated
That was really poor considering the race.
Well, all I can say is that when you run a RINO like Ballantine against a socialist like Easley, the socialist always wins.
I wouldn't call Ballentine a RINO, but you got a point and a good one to boot. On some issues it seemed like Easley actually got to the right of Ballantine. I went with Cobey in the primary. Do you think he would have done better?

Frankly, the only reason I voted for Ballentine was that he wasn't Easley.
Notice that Tyrrell County has more votes for Badnarik than for either Kerry or President Bush.
Which way did you vote? Badnarik (out of gratitude for the FReep site?)
**chuckle**
I wrote in "Taxrelief Demming" in every lib-only option situation.
Actually, I did vote Libertarian for Governor.
