I realized the other day that I have voted now 4 times for a Bush and once for a Dole. I wonder if I'll ever get more than a 4-letter President to vote for, LOL. Maybe not if Rice or Bush run in 2008!

Go W!

Oddly, I also find a lot of Americans who actually know a lot about Canada.

I know that Canada had the BEST comedy TV show ever---SCTV. Much better than SNL.

Carson is absolutely the dumbest, most unqualified elected official I have seen in my life. She wins only by courting the racist voters of Center Twp, Marion County. It's astounding that the Star (once a great paper, now a Gannett rag) endorsed her. On the bright side, the state legislature gave her a somewhat safe district by excluding Pike and Lawrence Twps, thus making the GOP vote of the surrounding districts even stronger.

Mrs. DallasMike and I stood in line for 2 hours and 15 minutes to vote on Friday night. In 2000, I only stood in line for 20 minutes. Republicans are motivated.

We just drove by our precinct and it's jam-packed with cars and people. I've never seen so many people voting there. My neighborhood is probably around 90% Republican.

All taken care of here in Indiana. I took my 2 boys with me to watch and it was a hoot. We had the "fill in the arrow line" kind of ballot and I let each of my boys fill one in. In one of our local races there was a Rat (that I dont care for) vs. a Libertarian, so I voted for the Libertarian. My oldest, 9, saw it and said, "Dad, no! That's a liberal!"

I think they have been listening to their Dad too much.....

Speaking of turnout, things are booming in Oak Creek, WI. I got to my poll at 6:49 (a bit late for me; had a few things to take care of), line was already 60 deep. By the time polls opened at 7, line was already better than 150 deep. Cast my ballot at 7:13 (53rd ballot cast; I connected the lines a bit faster than some others :-) and as I was leaving, the line was close to 200 deep.

Live in Chicago...standing in line three women were talking about "60,000 ballots thrown out in Florida". One of them begins to pontificate "Well, that's no accident. That's a whole lot of disenfranchised voters". Ugh! I felt like saying if there has been any voter intimidation it's been on the Democrat side. The entire line was Kerry-folk. But here in Chicago, that's to be expected.

"That's against the law. Report her to the authorities."

No its not (unless state or local law is much different then most normal places). You have to be a certain length away from the polling place, but you can campaign, hold signs and hand out literature (as long as it says who pays for the literature on it somewhere). You can't get within someones personal space and harrass people though...

Did the deed. In my Mass. precinct it's 60-40 'rats and the early turnout was moderate.

I went to the 7:00 a.m. Mass (yes, of course I prayed for Bush!), and a bit before 7:00 there was already a line of about 40-50 waiting outside the polling place at the Episcopal church across the street. I'm in South Boston -- heavily Reagan Dem. There was still a good line when the Mass-goers went over about 7:30 -- and it was moving quickly.

As me move into the actual "hot phase" of the day, it would be great if we could start putting more "meat" into the thread. Cross Links to other threads with useful info, specific anecdotal info, etc...

Thanks to all for keeping the thread interesting . . .

My wife and I did what Rush suggested yesterday, we met at dawn voting for the only sensible candidate: George W. Bush.

6:30 am in Connecticut - Long lines. For some reason they did not have my name on the roll. They were checking and verifying everyone's name. Most of the poll workers were "older" and were not completely familiar with all procedures, but on the whole I feel like it was handled very well. Once I filled out a re-activation form I voted!

Minneota, a suburb of St. Paul. Yard signs are about even in my neck of the woods.

Similar experience on a smaler scale. Our precinct has about 1,700 registered, and the woman in charge is our neighbor. She says they get excited when they have 1,000 ballots, 'cause it's usually 400 to 500. She told us to get there early this morning because of heavy turnout.

I think she's right. We got there at 6:45am and there were at least 30 ahead of us. By the time we voted and walked out, the line was longer, and all the booths were filled.

So, it looks like a heavy turnout in Oklahoma, at least in our small corner of it.

OBTW, in my exit polling, Bush-Cheney-Coburn got 100% of the vote (sample size = 2, my wife and me)

I'm in Raleigh too. Which precinct had the MoveOn goons? I voted early Oct. 26 but my dad will be going out today to vote. He is an army veteran and is all fired up.

Go Bush, Burr, Ballentine!!
