I gave my Mom vitamin C tablets, and told her they were chewable.

Have your thyroid checked. My hair was falling out in CHUNKS, it was underactive thyroid. Runs in my family in the females in my generation. Both sisters lost all thyroid function. One small pill a day and my hair grew back it. It was scary for a while.
