DURANGO, Colo. Oct 30, 2004 A part-time college instructor has apologized for kicking a student because he was wearing a Republican shirt.
Fort Lewis College student Mark O'Donnell said he was showing people his College Republicans sweat shirt, which said "Work for us now or work for us later," when Maria Spero kicked him in the leg at an off-campus restaurant.
Spero then said "she should have kicked me harder and higher," said O'Donnell. "To physically take that out on someone because you disagree with them, that is completely wrong."
Spero, a visiting instructor of modern languages, apologized to O'Donnell in a letter dated Oct. 29.
"I acted entirely inappropriately by kicking you, giving vent to a thoughtless knee-jerk political reaction that should never have happened," she wrote. "Before the incident, I did not know you and that you are a Fort Lewis student."
The college also formally apologized, said David Eppich, assistant to the school's president.
O'Donnell said the apology wasn't enough and he plans to file a complaint with the college.
The only phone number listed in Durango for the surname Spero was constantly busy Saturday.
Durango police did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
I was brought up that way. But times have changed.
If a woman kicked me in the leg, or anywhere else, because of a T-shirt I was wearing, today I would hit her in the face, as hard as I could.
Women used to play by the rules, and now they don't.
Fired!! HELL I want to know why she is still breathing!!!!!!
some of them don't. lots of people don't play by the rules anymore.
but I do.
Of course I think we can all agree that a man should never be kicked in the balls for no good reason, but that said
She kicked him in the leg, not the crotch, so I don't know why you're getting all lathered up over the kick in the crotch scenario.
And I don't know what you think I can do about the radical feminists, besides continue to be what I am. You think because I'm a woman I have some special anti-feminist witch powers or something?
And I think you are wrong to call me a hypocrite because I say men shouldn't knock women's teeth out. That's the kind of thing that happens routinely in raghead countries, not here. The muslim men justify their brutal mistreatment of women with arguments very similar to yours... you know, she wasn't acting like a lady.... she was behaving like a man so I'll treat her like a man... etc. etc.
What difference does it make? She assaulted him. You would never make the claim that a man should be excused from assaulting a woman if she wasn't injured.

This isn't about abusing a woman for not acting lady like. We're talking about self defence against an attacker. There is a difference.
More evidence that Phil Hendrie is a comic genius. Just last week he did a show where Margaret Gray, as a teacher, dropkicked a student's binder because it had a Bush sticker on it. Another "Life Imitates Phil" moment.
I know there are some other Phil listeners here so I won't describe the concept of the show. For those who haven't yet listened, seek him out.
Mrs. Pablo64 and I will never be Skyhawks. We will always be Raiders! I'm just glad we got out of there when we did.
More coffee, and read slower!!
What in the world gives you that impression?
The college will probably boost her salary and hire her full time.
As someone who is intimately familiar with college and university professors, I can categorically say that these rabid political types are the type of people colleges seek, otherwise they would not be infesting campus' as they are.
In order to change, we must confront the college presidents and board of trustees which run those institutions.
That's what I did when my daughter came home from a local college recently with a writing assignment on "Why the Bush Administration is harming the education system by slashing spending, etc"
I am not kidding. There was no request to slam Kerry, of course.
Needless to say, I was on the phone immediately to that "professor" and to the college president with my complaint, not that it will do any good.
And as far as what you can do against political correctness, the liberals use the argument that if you aren`t a member of "our group" you have no rights in this matter. So as a member of one of those "oppressed groups" if you REALLY do despise this kind of hypocritical feminist cr@p, you are HONOR BOUND to speak up, organize, and/or do ALL you reasonably can to END IT! Either you want traditional gender behavior or you want this feminist utopia of equal treatment and ALL that enevitably comes with it, you don`t get both.
I personally abhorrer and despise with every fiber of my being group indentity politics so as a so called member of a "group" myself, I speak up every time I can to ANYONE I can. I can`t tell you how many times I have almost come to blows over this, let alone been called a "sell out" but we are HONOR BOUND and MUST DO ALL we can to end reverse discrimination NO MATTER IF ITS GENDER OR RACIALLY MOTIVATED! Anything less IS nothing less then HYPOCRITICAL BULL and that person no better than the race or gender baiters that thrive on this kind of reverse bull $#*t so the question is, what are YOU doing to stop this kind of cr@p?
Thanks Nomad, well said.
So, it would have been okay if he had not been a student?
The stupid hag needed her face smashed in.
You win.
I live too close to Boulder for comfort myself, but...Bezerkely?
My condolences.
lol...I want one.
Should have sued her face off, and this "teacher" should be blackballed (so to speak).

Wrongful Rape Convictions
DNA evidence proved that a Portsmouth, VA man had been mistakenly accused of rape - but not before he spent 8 1/2 months in jail and lost his job. A 12-year-old girl "positively" identified him as the attacker and his name was released to the media, but genetic evidence cleared him. He requested DNA testing immediately after arrest, but says Marjorie Taylor, the prosecutor, was not interested in pursuing the matter.
A former Sunday school teacher who spent 2 1/2 years in jail before being acquitted of molestation charges is seeking $110 million in damages from the San Diego County.
A man who spent three years in prison on a wrongful rape conviction is suing the state of California, Los Angeles County, and several other groups. The man, a nurse, was sentenced to eight years on a charge of raping a mental patient at Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk. He was freed after DNA testing proved him innocent. He says he has gone bankrupt and lost his home and many possessions.
The state of Maryland is giving $300,000 to a Cambridge man for the nine years he spent in prison before genetic evidence cleared him of a rape-murder charge.
If it had been a student wearing a left-wing sweatshirt, this lady would have been fired already.
About what? The college didn't kick him.
OHHH, how about a complaint that the college has hired a psychotic, certainly, and a psychpath probably that could bring a lawsuit against them if this happened ina classroom. Or how about claiming that donations will dry up when this is splashed all over and nothing is done about it. All kinds of angles.
