I was hoping they'd send Condi, but Cheney's just as good!
Aloha, everybody, and remember: 9/11 was never repeated--because of President Bush!

I know how you feel--I don't know whether this is good or bad, but we'll find out soon enough. Either W is doing so poorly that he needs to try to scrap together enough EV to win, or else he's comfortable in the battleground states and is going for a landslide. I doubt very much this is bluff, W and Cheney aren't about to waste any of their valuable time this late in the game if HI and NH were out of reach just to "scare" the other side.
I'm trying not to panic....but don't know why they'd go to hawaii...if we had our base down, we don't need it.

Steve McGarrett will rise from his grave to rescue President Bush. Danno will investigate any organized crime, voter fraud and voter intimidation.
Book 'em Danno!

The place is still full of neurotic goats. I thought they'd make a psychotic ass feel like a king.

That is a good point. However... merely getting the base down has never been Rove's strategy. Rove seems to put a premium on getting minority votes, or unexpected votes. Hawaii swinging to Bush is the most surreal development of this campaign. Plus... this throws off alot of the closer electoral vote scenarios. Nobody thought Hawaii would be anywhere near in play.

Ouch...tuff trip...so, how does it work in Hawaii...like in many states, we have traditional GOP counties...so, for Hawaii, do they have more Republican Islands than another?

Kahoolawe is a small island near Maui and Lanai. It was a former military bombing and naval target range. We have descriptive names for our islands; I live on the Big Island, Kauai is the Garden Island etc. Kahoolawe was called the Target Island.

Maybe TC can give Cheney an Island Hoppers helocopter ride, to stop at one of the other islands as well.

I am excited, but worrying (unnecesarily) why they would even bother with Hawaii if they didn't think they might need it to win.

If they felt like they were sinking... they wouldnt be going to solid democratic states. Besides, its just Cheney, not Bush himself. If they were desperate they would be sending Bush

Gore and Cheney in Hawaii five days before the election. Is Hawaii a battleground state? Personally, I'd like to see Zell there.
