I'm going to try to come for a little while after I get my guys off on their Cub Scout camping trip after lunch. Any ideas on parking?
FYI, I heard on the radio that the CAT busses to the fair are free today only. They are normally $3 each way. Now if I can just figure out where to catch one and hope I don't get beaten by an angry mob if I carry Pro Bush/Anti Kerry signs on the bus.

Yup Star- Thanks. I just got back and I have to run out the door. We had lots of honks for Bush and for the Vietnam Vets. I got flipped off a couple of times... but more support than not- there was a man waring a Kerry Sticker who stopped to talk with the two vets Iwas with. He took the information and said he would think about it and look on the Internet for the news he had not gotten. AND a there was lady , whose husband kept slowing the car down so she could read my sign-( Vets Against John Kerry)- whose Dad was in Vietnam and she had no idea what we were doing there...they stopped the car and she kept asking me "what did John Kerry Say that you are protesting?"
I thought she was joking... the vets AGAIN came to the rescue to explain that John Kerry was the one who said the soldiers in Vietnam were baby killers...
She looked shocked and then said- "you have changed my mind about John Kerry thank you".
I couldn't believe that she did not know. Gotta Run- more later!

Yes, thanks guys! We passed out a TON of business cards to
Bob's website and LOTS of fliers (with the ample evidence invalidating Kerry for presidency)!
As Diva indicated, there were some Kerry supporters (and well...some people see only what they want to see), but for every mad-dog star or negative comment, there were dozens of thumbs-up & horn-honking.
I had to do the Fair thing, with the family, and didn't get to actively participate until around 4-something...but even in the 2 or so hours that I was there, I talked to scores of people. If even one of those people read up about Kerry, we've done our job!
We'll be posting pix on the
SwiftVets website, on the following forum / topic:

I must have just missed you. I arrived at 3 pm after battling traffic for 45+ min getting there and I stayed until at 4:30. Same experience as you. For every nasty word and/or bird we had at least a dozen or more pro Bush remarks or honks.
Sadly we found that most that were nasty to us with foul language etc. were black.

Whoa!
Amazing story, thanks.
I stopped by this morning around 10 to speak with Mike Fieschko before my wife & I took our daughter to the fair.
I must have just missed you! I got back to the corner around 3 and stayed till about 4:30.
My experience was a little different.
By late afternoon, the NCSU-Miami tailgaters were on the way in and there were a few vulgar fans heckling us (F Bush, Bush s*cks, etc).
Got shot the bird at least 7 or 8 times.
More later.

I had to leave at about 2:30- so I must have just missed you both. I parked about 2 miles away and it took me over an hour each way to get there! I was so mad at myself when I discovered there were parking spots much closer...I could have spent more time with the sign in hand rahter than walking to and from my car!
The tailgaters were just beginning when I had to leave... I got flipped off my a college student and .. hello.... a Mom- with kids in tow. both were pigment challenged like myself, but from what I noticed.. Kerry def. has the people with pigment locked up.. some were rude.. most just said they weren't interested and kept walking. One dad literally ripped the card we had given his daughter right out of her hand. She was interested.. One of the vets yelled Coni Rice 2008 to her. I think she liked that.
