Lawsuit could halt library’s movie plan

ELYRIA — If you want to borrow Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9/11” from the Elyria Public Library, get in line. And if you intended a trip to the library to watch a planned showing of the controversial documentary that skewers President George W. Bush, you’ll probably have to wait until after the Nov. 2 presidential election.

I have prepared a Viewing Guide to the movie "Fahrenheit 9/11" that details the legal "obscenity". I also filed a lawsuit to stop the showing of the film at my local library. The strongest argument against showing the film seems to be at Title 01, Chapter 25, 1 Hour and 37 minutes into the film. At this point, a soldier engages in indecent acts with a corpse. Most states have laws that prohibit the public showing of such acts and, therefore, the film can be stopped from public viewing in all tax-funded public places.

Don't stop the showings of this! You're playing right into their hands. When you censor the showing, you are telling them that you believe that it is true and you are trying to hide it. Let them show it - just be there with any of the myriad viewer's guides that refute all his obnoxious claims.

You know how Kerry tried to stop Sinclair from showing the anti-Kerry movie. He didn't want the truth to get out. Whether it's true or not (which I believe it is, btw) his suppressing it makes it look true.

I have a great viewer's guide for F9/11 in PDF form. I can't remember the website I downloaded it from. If anyone wants it, i'm happy to email it.

I can relate to your point. I would however support doing this and here's why: This is a showing in a public forum funded 100% by tax payer money. That's the difference. If this were a privately funded business or organization like say Barnes and Noble we'd be wrong to try and stop those showings IMHO. You might see it as slight but it's sort of a big deal to me. Just my .02

Two more points and I'll consider this horse beaten to death.

I haven't seen this piece of "work" because I didn't want to see my $$ lining MM's pockets or pumping his box office/ video sales numbers. Perhaps if it comes to a library near me (and I have absolutely nothing better to do) I would take advantage of the freebee so that I could experience first hand the piece without finacial benefit the propogandist.

As far as kids are concerned:
Where are the parents?

And while their soft minds may be influenced by the film they can't vote anyway.
