MATTHEWS: Let me ask you the question aboutthis is going to cause some trouble with peoplebut as an historian now and studying the Revolutionary War as it was fought out in the South in those last years of the War, insurgency against a powerful British force, do you see any parallels between the fighting that we did on our side and the fighting that is going on in Iraq today?
CARTER: Well, one parallel is that the Revolutionary War, more than any other war up until recently, has been the most bloody war weve fought. I think another parallel is that in some ways the Revolutionary War could have been avoided. It was an unnecessary war.
Had the British Parliament been a little more sensitive to the colonials really legitimate complaints and requests the war could have been avoided completely, and of course now we would have been a free country now as is Canada and India and Australia, having gotten our independence in a nonviolent way.
I think in many ways the British were very misled in going to war against America and in trying to enforce their will on people who were quite different from them at the time.

How about the Civil War?
How in the hell did this person get elected to be President.. What a dolt!.
Uh oh, jimmy is sqweeking again.
Didn't he get elected by running against Gerald Ford?
"Had the British Parliament been a little more sensitive to the colonials really legitimate complaints and requests the war could have been avoided completely"
Oh. My. God.
Yeah, we'd just be another Canada instead of the United States of American you idiot! We wouldn't be a free nation, we'd still be a British nation.
Maybe without a Revolutionary war, Britain would never have loosened the reigns for Canada, India, etc. The war set the scenario for the non-violent changes that followed. The relavent parallel is that the war in Iraq setup the non-violent changes in Libya up to today.
"How in the hell did this person get elected to be President"
The more pressing question is - how in the hell does this idiot put his pants on without help?!
Fantastic logic...Hmmm..had the Germans not walked into France, WWII would not have been necessary either...
Ancient Chinese proverb says:
If you know nothing,
keep quiet,
lest you open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Old Jimmah just needs to go back to building houses for the poor and needy. Otherwise, he's totally useless.

The Canadians still have some real men in the Prairie Provinces and Alberta, but when it comes to cleaning out a nest of vipers like Islamofacist Terrorists, it's the cowboy American who is first to answer the call.
With ifs and buts, one could put Paris and New York in a bottle. Britain probably went peacefuly with Canada and India because of America taking a military stand against British law enforcement in the first place ... end of story. THere is plenty of documentation of how America took away the British empire.
Carter was elected by the same people who elected Clinton and who would elect Kerry.
We are an approximately a 50:50 split country - made up of uninformed voters, of which only about 50% vote.
If Carter had his way we would be a totally socialist country and to be fair, every country would have nuclear weapons.
Oh dear.
Um, more Americans died in the Civil War than any other war.
