I am a student in Massachusetts, and am following the current Senate race in Oklahoma. I would love to hear from all Oklahomans who are in support of Tom Coburn. Is there a particular issue on his platform that has influenced your decision? Do you feel that your religious beliefs have played a part in your choosing him as a candidate to support? If so, how? Thank you...
Massachusetts!???
Git a rope!
Quick answer. Colburn supports Bush. Carson supports Kerry.OK 60%+ Bush. Any more questions?
Being from Massachussetts, do you know what a Republican is?

Coburn is a good guy. He is very fiscally conservative, Pro-life.
Many Oklahoma Democrats are more conservative than NE Republicans.
I am in Oklahoma voting for Coburn because I want the Republicans to maintain control of the Senate. Other than that he doesn't really knock my socks off. I think that is why it is such a close race.
This is the third time isabel9 has posted this. Perhaps we should let loose the kitties?????
I went to med school with Tom at OUHSC. He was in my module during the first two years (the lab/lecture years), so I got to know him much better than I did the students who were not in our section. He was older than most of us by about ten years, and far more conservative at that point in time than I was, as a recent graduate of UC--Santa Cruz, transplanted back to Oklahoma. Tom was the real deal. He was scrupulously honest, said what he thought, and was also a tremendously compassionate person. He was the best advertisement for conservatism I had seen at that point in my life.
I since have moved to Arkansas and practice at Sparks Hopsital. Tom is not an ob-gyn, but completed a family practice residency at AHEC in Fort Smith at Sparks. He is well-remembered by the faculty here. He is one of the few FPs who still delivers babies; this has almost been eliminated by the trial lawyers.
I have not always agreed with Tom's positions, but know that he is a truly good man of the highest integrity. As I have aged, I have grown increasingly conservative, and now find myself agreeing with him on nearly all key positions. Since I live in AR I will be voting in AR. Nevertheless, I am proud to support his campaign.
I think the left is looking for something to hit Coburn on. Notice this poster does not answer anybody, either. Call out the kitties!
I'm a physician in AR in Clarksville. We have 8 FP doctors and in my clicin we still all do OB. As does another clinic in town with 4 FP's. 4 of the physicians in my clinic trained at AHEC in Ft. Smith.
Okay, I must reply to this lest you all be sent spiralling into an abyss of paranoia. I've not replied thus far only because I am a college student and this is the busiest time of the semester! Following the Oklahoma Senate race is part of a project for one of my classes and I am gathering personal information from constituents because you will be putting the next Senator in power and your voice is important. My apologies to any offended by my previous lack of response.
Cool! I used to practice in Tulsa before moving to AR 9 years ago. The move in the Tulsa hospitals was to prohibit FPs from delivering unless an OB-GYN was in attendance, which kind of defeated the point of allowing the FP to deliver to begin with. Tom appears to have withstood local pressures in that direction -- for that, more power to him!
I wish you and your colleagues well in Clarksville.
I feel old. When I was in school we used Cliff Notes. Now they use internet message boards.
Good luck with your project..
Dr. Coburn does not lisp when he speaks about his platform. This is a good thing.
